LITTLE ROCK, Ark. – The Garland County Habitat for Humanity has received a $9,750 incentive for its 2024–2025 participation in the Entergy Arkansas Core Continuous Energy Improvement (CEI) offering. Since 2024, the organization has received a total of $20,500 in incentives through Entergy Arkansas, underscoring the tangible benefits of sustained energy improvement and partnership.

Garland County Habitat for Humanity was one of the first Entergy Arkansas customers to participate in Core CEI when the program launched in 2023. Through the program, each of Habitat’s ReStores received on-site energy scans to pinpoint opportunities for improvement, while staff engaged in collaborative workshops to share ideas, learn best practices, and connect with other organizations committed to reducing energy use.

Core CEI provides ongoing technical support and one-on-one coaching focused on low- and no-cost operational and behavioral changes, empowering organizations to take practical steps toward efficiency. With this support, every Garland County Habitat for Humanity ReStore achieved an annual electricity reduction of more than 5%, with more than 40,000 kilowatt hours of electricity saved each year and an estimated $5,000 in annual energy cost savings. Now, these resources can be redirected to Habitat’s mission of building strength, stability, and self-reliance through shelter.

“Participating in Core CEI has been a gamechanger for our ReStores and Habitat’s mission here in Garland County, “ said Ben Baker, Garland County Habitat ReStore director. “The insights and support we received from the Core CEI team allowed us to make impactful, sustainable changes. Not only are we saving on energy costs, but we’re also reinvesting those savings back into building affordable homes for families in need. It’s been an incredible journey, and we’re grateful for Entergy Arkansas’ partnership in helping us achieve this milestone.”

“Our partnership with Habitat in Garland County is one we are very proud of,” Marshunda Jones, Entergy customer service manager, said. “They have made great strides in becoming more efficient and over $5,000 in savings speaks for itself. I am excited to continue to work with them to grow our partnership.”

The Garland County Habitat for Humanity has received a $9,750 incentive for its 2024–2025 participation in the Entergy Arkansas Core Continuous Energy Improvement (CEI) offering.

Last month, Garland County Habitat for Humanity hosted Public Input Sessions in Hot Springs and Hot Springs Village. The feedback we received from community members about local needs, priorities and perceptions of our organization was invaluable.

To continue gathering input, we are asking community members to complete a brief survey. Your responses will help us better understand the needs of our community and identify ways we can improve our programs and services.

Please take a few minutes to complete the survey by June 15th. Your input will play an important role in helping us serve current and future homeowners, as well as the broader Garland County community.

Thank you for your time, support, and willingness to share your thoughts.

Upward Bound is a federally funded program that supports college-bound high school students who can benefit from extra academic guidance and motivation to reach their full potential.

HSU’s Upward Bound Project serves 60 Garland County students in grades 9–12, helping them build academic skills, stay motivated, and prepare for college success. From completing high school strong to gaining admission and thriving in higher education, these students are putting in the work—and it shows!

Thank you to this incredible group for spending time with us and making a difference in our community. 💙

Garland County Habitat for Humanity is inviting community members to participate in a series of public input sessions as the organization begins developing its new strategic plan. These sessions are designed to gather valuable feedback from residents about the future of Habitat for Humanity and the state of housing in Garland County.

The input sessions will focus on key topics such as affordable housing, housing shortages, and current housing challenges facing the community. Feedback collected will play an important role in shaping the organization’s goals and priorities for the coming years.

“These sessions are an opportunity for us to listen directly to the community we serve,” said Cindy Wagstaff, Executive Director. “We want to better understand the needs, concerns, and ideas of Garland County residents as we plan for the future.”
Community members are encouraged to attend one of the following sessions:
Tuesday, April 28 at 5:00 PM – Transportation Depot
Thursday, April 30 at 1:00 PM – Garland County Library
Monday, May 4 at 1:00 PM – Coronado Center, Hot Springs Village

The sessions come at a pivotal time for the organization, as Habitat for Humanity enters a new phase of growth with the development of its central campus. The campus will include a new administration office and construction warehouse, helping to expand the organization’s capacity to serve more families in need of safe, affordable housing.

Garland County Habitat for Humanity is a nonprofit organization dedicated to building safe, affordable housing for families in need. Through community partnerships, volunteer efforts, and donor support, the organization works to create strength, stability, and self-reliance through shelter.
