Today we hold space for every kind of mother's day story.
For the mothers who are nurturing, guiding, protecting, and loving every day.
For the women hoping and waiting to become mothers.
For those carrying the ache of losing a child, a grief it never leaves untouched.
For those missing their own mothers today and feeling the quiet weight of that absence.
For the grandmothers, caregivers, mentors, foster moms, adoptive moms, and chosen family who have given love so freely.
For those with animal babies, and those with roots and stems/trunks.
For women who may not feel they fit into any of those categories, or maybe they fit multiple of those categories.
This day can bring joy, gratitude, sorrow, longing or evoke all of those feelings at once.
Wherever today finds you, we see you.
We honor your story.
And we send compassion to every heart carrying love in all of its forms.
We Honor All of the Mothers Today!

We celebrate Earth Week with gratitude to our board members who have contributed to the planting of 40 new trees. These trees will mature into robust wind blocks and provide excellent privacy.

We want to let everyone know that all of the horses, all of the barn cats, and our great dog Finley are happy, healthy, and safe ❤️

Unfortunately, we did lose two structures in last night’s windstorm (the covered riding arena and the old barn). We are also out of power with no estimate of when that will be turned back on (linemen have been pulled for their safety due to continued high winds). We are incredibly thankful that no people or animals were hurt.

At this time, we will NOT be doing any cleanup today due to the continued high winds, so please do not come out to assist today. Once the winds have calmed and we’re able to assess the full extent of the damage in daylight, we will share updates and post volunteer cleanup opportunities for anyone who would like to help.

Please note that we will not be providing on-site or barn-based services at this time. We will make available traditional office based services for current served individuals; and we remain ready and willing to do Critical Incident Stress Debriefings, for any first responding teams that need them.

Below we have a couple pictures of the damage that were grabbed during morning chores of what used to be the covered arena. We will keep everyone posted on updates, when daylight offers us an opportunity to see and the wind is no longer persisting.

Thank you all so much for the concern, support, and understanding. We’ll keep you posted. 💙

Healthy Horses
We recognize that news of the Equine Herpes Virus-1 outbreak, and the confirmed case in South Dakota has brought concern and some operations and riders to an abrupt halt.

While the cases seem to be tied back to animals who have been at events in Texas and Oklahoma, or been in contact with animals returning from those events; in the interest of safeguarding the health of our horses we will be implementing precautions.

We will not have horses leaving the property and there will be no outside horses allowed to enter the property. We are actively discussing the best biosecurity possible for our setting to minimize any risk of exposure to this virus from humans.

To all who have been affected, please know that our thoughts and heartfelt support are with you during this challenging time.

🍂 New School Year, New Strength 🍂

To anyone starting this school year while battling with mental health struggles, or just feeling off, you are not alone.

Showing up, even when it’s hard, is powerful than you may realize. Whether you're feeling hopeful or just trying to survive the day, your effort matters.

YOU MATTER!

This fall, as we prepare to launch our upcoming services, know this: Your life matters. Not because of what you do or achieve, but simply because you exist. The world is better with you in it, just as you are. You are not broken, you are perfectly imperfect. You are enough just as you are. We’re working behind the scenes to create spaces where healing, connection, and hope are possible.

You don’t have to have it “all together” to move forward. Just take the next step. We’ll be here to walk with you.

💛 One day at a time. One breath at a time. You’ve got this, and you're not alone.

How does EquineFacilitatedPsychotherapy (EFP) help people? Why work with a horse?

Well, horses are the perfect facilitator for client centered Psychotherapy. 🐴 By their very nature horses are observers of everything, and respond to things around them including people and even what is going on inside a person emotionally. Thus, horses can create a mirror for one's self; allowing individuals to heal while working with a horse; and as the person heals the connection to the horse grows stronger allowing for even greater healing and growth. (Peterson, 2010)

EFP helps individuals build healthier, stronger, and affective interpersonal skills and communication. 🗣️ They develop an understanding of boundaries; how to set them, as well as respect them.

EFP helps individuals develop Mindfulness, as well as teaching and heightened healthy and appropriate situational awareness and self awareness. 🧘‍♀️

EFP helps individuals develop coping skills and strategies to manage their thoughts, feelings, perceptions and behavioral choices. Helping them build a strong sense of self, pride, and ability to monitor and control one's self in a healthy way. 🐎

EFP helps individuals learn to grow and foster healthy relationships with trust, honesty, communication and consistency while growing and learning to adapt to situations while striving to reach goals. 🤝

EFP helps individuals build independence and increase self-esteem. It also helps people build and understand empathy. 💪

EFP helps people to find balance and harmony in mind, body, and spirit. Thus helping them develop healthy routines and rituals for their days, as well as develop the ability to adapt when necessary. 🧘‍♀️

So honestly, horses can do a lot of things for people. This list doesn't even show everything that a human can learn from a horse, or how they can heal and grow from their interactions with a horse in EFP. 🐴

If you're interested in your own EFP Journey reach out to us we'd be happy to see if our program is the right fit for you.

☀️ The sun is shining, the rain has stopped, and the horses are running out of mud to roll in; but seem happy to sunbathe.

With the weather clearing up, some volunteers are putting in time after their other jobs to get things in order: tackling the weeds, restoring the arena footing, and installing new rails to ensure everything is in shape.

A big thank you to all the volunteers giving their time and effort to make this happen! 🙌

Hoofbeats of Healing

In pastures wide, where breezes play,
A horse stands calm, a friend to stay.
With gentle eyes and steady grace,
It mirrors hearts, a healing space.

Through rhythmic strides and soft embrace,
Anxiety and stress efface.
Studies show, with trust and care,
Endorphins rise, lifting despair.

For veterans bearing unseen scars,
Therapeutic rides beneath the stars
Reduce PTSD's tight hold,
Restoring peace, both brave and bold.

In youth and elders, too, we find
Horses help to ease the mind.
With every nicker, step, and neigh,
They guide the soul to brighter day.

So let us honor, with respect,
The bond we share, the lives we affect.
For in each hoofbeat, soft and true,
Lies healing power, for me and you.
