Clark Kern Memorial Scholarship Fund

Clark Kern Memorial Scholarship Fund This Page is dedicated to Clark Wilkins Kern, 20, who went home to be with the Lord on April 3, 2016. He was born on June 29, 1995, in Hot Springs.

On April 3, 2016, the world lost a kind and caring soul as Clark Wilkins Kern, 20, went home to be with the Lord. Clark attended and graduated from Christian Ministries Academy where he was a member of the drama club, basketball team, and student council. He graduated in May, 2013, and then attended National Park Community College. Clark loved spending time with family and friends. He was a good n

atured, easy going and affectionate young man who was always accepting of people. Clark was also a voracious reader, a practical joker, and loved to beat people at any game in which he competed. He will always be remembered by friends and family for his great hugs. In spite of his courageous battle with the debilitating disease, NF2, Clark never lost his zeal for life, maintaining a quiet strength and an adventurous spirit. Clark is the beloved son of Paul and Angela (Byrd) Kern and older brother of Cole Kern. He leaves his maternal grandparents Judy Saulsbury, of Hot Springs and Dan and Patsy Byrd, of El Dorado; and his paternal grandmother, Sara Wilkins of Henderson, Texas. Clark is also survived by many aunts, uncles, and cousins as well as a loving community and many dear friends. His presence was a gift to all who had the privilege of knowing and loving him and he will be greatly missed.

At this year’s CMA graduation on May 16, we were honored to award three $1,500 scholarships to outstanding graduates. This year’s recipients were Landon Morris, Anna Thompson, and Gavin Hicks.

Landon will be attending Ouachita Baptist University, where he plans to major in philosophy/pre-law. Anna will begin her studies at National Park College, completing her basics before transferring to Arkansas Tech University to pursue a degree in certified occupational therapy. Gavin will also attend National Park College, where he plans to enter the nursing program.

We are incredibly proud of these students and excited to see what the future holds for each of them. We know the Lord has great plans for their lives and will use them in powerful ways to serve and impact others.

To all who have donated, supported us, or continue to remember Clark in your own special ways — thank you. Your generosity makes this possible, and we are deeply grateful. It is a true honor to carry on Clark’s name through this scholarship.

We love and miss you every day, Clark. 💙
