Every Gaam (village) has a school provided by the Indian government. Many of the schools over the years have deteriorated, therefore fewer children attend the school each year. Some schools shut down because there is no hope for the school to run in proper condition. Parents of these children work as manual laborers on farms and are given very low wages in return. Generation after generation poor

families are drawn into a cycle where they can only earn enough to put food on the table because they have limited career opportunities. In 2012 the founder of TSF, Arun Dalubhai Patel looked at his own gaam school: Kuched Gaam School and decided to take on a project of his own: to improve the overall conditions of the school in order to help the children receive a better education. As a result of these changes over the last 4 years, the attendance of students increased from 43 to over 100 students. Our future goals include looking at other Gaam Schools and improving their conditions just as we did with Kuched Gaam School. By creating a Local village board for better educational foundation, children can obtain an 8th grade level education or higher. Education in this region would change the economical caste system that has been embedded for too long.
