Notice to our valued clients: Beginning in May, the food bank's new schedule will be limited to the second and fourth Thursdays of each month. Although this change may cause some inconvenience, we believe it will enable us to better serve the community. Our thrift store hours will remain the same: 11 AM to 4 PM, Monday through Friday. Our thrift store operates to fund our food bank through multiple channels. For years, Grays Harbor, we have provided a service and received your support, for which we are deeply grateful. The Three R’s Food Bank, operated by the Seventh-day Adventist Church, will be adjusting its schedule beginning in May. Instead of being open four Thursdays each month, we will now be open two Thursdays per month.
Like many food banks, we are currently experiencing supply shortages. After careful consideration, we believe this change will allow us to continue serving our community in the most sustainable and effective way.
We sincerely apologize for any inconvenience this may cause and appreciate your understanding and support during this time.
Please note that the thrift store’s days and hours of operation will remain unchanged.

Many in our community knew Penny Palolo — though you may not have known her by name. To some, she was the “prayer lady,” the “breakfast bar lady,” or the one who handed out Pop-Tarts with a smile.
For years, Penny would leave her home each morning and walk through downtown Aberdeen, sharing simple acts of kindness. She carried Ziploc bags filled with a prayer or poem, along with a breakfast bar or Pop-Tart. She spoke with anyone, prayed with anyone, and made it her mission to remind people of one powerful truth: Jesus loves you — and so did she.
Penny had a deep love for the people of our community. She faithfully volunteered multiple days each week at the Three R’s Thrift Store and Food Bank, and she was a longtime member of the Hoquiam Seventh-day Adventist Church.
Because of her love for Grays Harbor and its people, we invite all who were touched by her kindness — or who simply want to honor a life of service and compassion — to attend her Memorial of Life.

We are saddened to share that on March 19th sometime after 4:00 PM, the 3 R’s Thrift Store and Food Bank was broken into. Approximately $500 in cash, along with other miscellaneous items, was taken.
This is truly heartbreaking. Our church, thrift store, and food bank exist to serve and support our community. Every dollar earned through the thrift store goes directly toward helping provide food and care for individuals and families here in Grays Harbor. This was not just a theft from a building—it was a loss for our entire community.
While we choose to forgive those responsible and pray that they find a better path forward, we have reported the incident and filed charges. If you have any information that could help, please contact the Hoquiam Police Department. Tips can be shared anonymously.
We are incredibly grateful for the continued love and support from our Grays Harbor community. Your generosity and kindness make this mission possible, and even in difficult moments like this, we remain committed to serving those in need.
