Kaitlyn's 2025 Boston Marathon Fundraiser for HEF

I am thrilled and honored to be selected as the recipient of the Hopkinton Education Foundation's 2025 Boston Marathon bib! I am excited to raise funds in support of the innovation grants submitted by our educators that benefit all of the students in our community.

My husband and I have lived in Hopkinton since 2016. We have a 6th grade daughter at Hopkinton Middle School and we live very close to the start of the Marathon. I absolutely love the energy and camaraderie we see leading up to the Marathon, especially on Marathon Monday. Everyone comes to the start line with a different story, a different journey and it is so inspiring.

I ran my first marathon (Boston) in 2023. I absolutely loved the hard work, grit, and accomplished feeling that came with running the marathon. It was truly one of the best days of my life! I loved being able to raise money for a meaningful cause and tackle something I once would have thought was impossible. I loved setting an example for my daughter and showing her that 45 years old was not too old to run your first marathon!

In 2024 I participated in the B.A.A. Distance Medley, which means over the course of 8 months I ran the B.A.A. 5K, 10K, and Half Marathon. Now I have my sights on the 129th Boston Marathon. As I lace up and prepare to run my 2nd marathon, I could not be more excited to raise money for HEF, who's vision is to be the catalyst that energizes Hopkinton Public School educators to deliver innovative educational experiences that inspire students to become lifelong learners.

2023-2024 ELMWOOD ART CONTEST

Calling all Elmwood student artists! In celebration of our teachers, the Hopkinton Education Foundation is sponsoring its annual Thank-A-Teacher fundraiser and Elmwood Art Contest. Every year students and families have an opportunity to thank their favorite teacher by making a donation to the Hopkinton Education Foundation in the teacher’s name. Keep an eye out for the flyer and announcement in early December. Honored teachers will receive a personal thank you card from HEF featuring the artwork of the winner of the Elmwood Art Contest. The 3 artists with the most votes from HEF members will also win the following prizes:
1st Place - $25 HopYo gift card
2nd Place - $15 HopYo gift card
3rd Place - $10 HopYo gift card
Contest Rules:
• All Elmwood students are eligible to enter
• Artwork must be original
• Artwork dimensions are 5 x 7 (portrait or landscape)
• Art may be in any media that fits on a 5 x 7 card – paint, pencil, chalk, collage, etc.
• Sign your artwork - the winner’s name will be published on the thank you card (Include your name and class with your entry)
• Submit your entry any of the following ways:
- send electronically (photo or scan) to [email protected]
- submit the original to Elmwood art teacher Bonnie Gaus

Entries must be received by November 21, 2023. Winners will be announced after Thanksgiving. Good luck to our 2nd and 3rd graders!

We are pleased to announce Ashley Windheuser as our 2023 Boston Marathon Runner! Ashley graduated from Hopkinton High School in 2014 and is now a Physician's Assistant. "Growing up in Hopkinton, I watched the Boston Marathon every year and naturally grew this desire to one day join those runners. I have always had this sense of pride whenever someone would ask where I am from and I was able to answer with “Hopkinton, the start of the Boston Marathon”. Running the Boston Marathon feels like a once in a lifetime opportunity and I am honored to be able to join those runners I grew up watching."
