Our Story

Manna Café distributes two million pounds of groceries per year to low-income clients. In recent years, we have seen a steady increase in clients from Kentucky; in 2018, a full 8 percent of clients, equaling hundreds of people, were residents of Hopkinsville, Oak Grove, and surrounding areas. As a result, and after much prayer and research, we are creating Manna Café Kentucky using space (kitchen and storage areas) at Restoration House of Hopkinsville (101 McLean Avenue). The plan is to address hunger in Kentucky through two avenues: a hot meal café and a food pantry.

Founded by Kenny and Victoria York, Manna Cafe is the result of Kenny's God-given dream to provide the Gospel by meeting people's basic needs for food, shelter, and community. We accomplish this mission via a core team of dedicated and hard-working staff and volunteers, as well as countless local volunteers.

Currently, we are searching for financial support to fund the vision as well as food resources (such as Feeding America, Operation Blessing, and/or Feed the Children). We will also develop a Kentucky food rescue program (i.e., a plan to garner viable, surplus food from restaurants, grocery stores, and farmers’ markets that would otherwise be wasted). When the essentials (health inspections, food resources, etc.) are in place, The Café will launch. Once The Café and additional food resources are established, we will open The Pantry. In the interim, Manna Café is committed to continuing distributing food to clients who travel to Clarksville from Kentucky. Since funding accrued in Tennessee is largely earmarked to support Tennesseans, funds raised in Kentucky will be used to continue to feed Kentuckians as well as to launch Manna Café Kentucky.
