📣 The Mayor’s Youth Council (MYC) is Back!

Mayor James R. Knight, Jr. is excited to announce the return of the Mayor’s Youth Council (MYC) — one of Hopkinsville’s most dynamic programs empowering local teens to lead, serve, and make a difference!

🎓 Who can apply:

Juniors and seniors attending school in Christian County (public, private, or homeschool)

Students eager to develop leadership skills, volunteer, and share ideas that impact our community

🗓️ Apply by Friday, October 17, 2025 at hoptown.org/myc
Applications must include:
✔️ Student information and resume
✔️ Two letters of recommendation
✔️ Signed participant release form

📅 Interviews for finalists: October 27–30
📢 Class announcement: November 4 at the City Council Meeting
📘 Orientation: November 15

🌟 Work-Based Learning Update! 🌟

We’re excited to share that 115 high school seniors were placed at 70 local businesses this year—a 20% increase from last year!

This success wouldn't be possible without Powerful Partnerships that are formed between our business community and public school system.

That's a wrap on our Back to School Breakfasts! 🎉🍎 We’ve had the joy of celebrating staff at all 18 of our schools - what an incredible way to kick-off the year. Every smile, every conversation, and every ‘thank you’ reminded us just how special our educators are to this community.

We have loved getting to kick off the school year by sharing breakfast with staff and reminding them how much they mean to our community. Every educator plays a role in shaping the future, and we’re grateful for the chance to honor that.
