The Power of the Oak Tree 🌳

An oak tree doesn’t become strong overnight. It grows through every season—sunshine, storms, wind, and rain. Its roots grow deeper with every challenge it faces.

The same is true for our youth.

Every young person deserves encouragement, support, and opportunities to grow. Sometimes they just need someone to believe in them, help them weather life’s storms, and remind them of their strength.

YSAB believes every youth has the potential to thrive. Growth takes time, patience, and support but strong roots create a strong future.

🇺🇸 Memorial Day is more than a long weekend it’s a time to reflect on sacrifice, service, and the freedoms we enjoy every day because of brave men and women who gave everything for our country.

At Christian County Youth Services Advisory Board, we believe young people grow stronger when they learn the value of sacrifice, service, and honoring those who gave everything for our freedom.

This Memorial Day, encourage the youth in your life to:
• Learn the story behind the holiday
• Attend a local remembrance ceremony
• Thank a veteran or military family
• Visit a memorial or cemetery
• Reflect on what service and sacrifice truly mean

Youth “act out” in many different ways and for many different reasons. At the heart of it all, most youth simply want to feel safe, supported, understood, and valued. ❤️

Examples of at-risk behaviors may include:�• Truancy�• Gang involvement�• Family or relationship conflict�• Social/emotional struggles�• Domestic or relationship violence�• Behavioral concerns�• Running away or homelessness�• Involvement with juvenile justice

The Christian County Youth Services Advisory Board works to make a difference by advocating for youth, supporting local programs, creating opportunities, and connecting families with resources that can truly change lives. From incentives and scholarships to outreach, mentorship, and community partnerships, YSAB believes every young person deserves encouragement, hope, and the chance to succeed.

Because sometimes all it takes is one person believing in a child to help change their future.

Why incentives work:

* Youth, especially teens, respond to immediate rewards more than long-term consequences

* Positive reinforcement helps them connect behavior with outcomes

* It builds motivation and confidence when they feel noticed for doing well—not just corrected when they do wrong

* For at-risk youth, incentives can help create trust and show that effort matters

Donations needed at Joy Closet!

Donations Needed💙

Are you finishing up spring cleaning? Switching out clothes for the summer? We would love your GENTLY USED or NEW baby, kid, and teen items! We always want to be able to serve the families that come to Joy Closet with whatever tangible items they may need. Right now we are running VERY low on the following:
🔹Boys 4T shirts, shorts, pajamas
🔹Boys 14/16 shirts, shorts, pajamas
🔹ALL Boys shoes- sizes toddler 8 and up to men sizes
🔹 Boys boxers- ALL sizes

We are so grateful for each and every person that has donated items or financially to ensure that we can always serve our families well and they don't leave empty handed.
