During this morning's Salute to Agriculture Breakfast at The Silo, a joint partnership was announced between the Hopkinsville Rotary Foundation and Christian County Agri Business Association that will create the Troy Goode Memorial Scholarship. Mr. Goode, who was a vital member of the Ag community and longtime teacher at Hopkinsville High School, continues to inspire local youth — even after his untimely passing — and we are honored to be a part of this effort.

The $6,000 Troy Goode Memorial Scholarship will be awarded to a local high school student who is involved in Future Farmers of America (FFA) and plans to pursue/study agriculture in college. More details will be made available soon.

The Hopkinsville Rotary Club and Christian County Public Schools have begun a partnership to establish Interact Clubs in the district’s two middle schools, beginning next school year.

Interact Clubs are extensions of local Rotary Clubs and seek to bring together young people, ages 12-18, to develop leadership skills, while discovering the power of .

The Hopkinsville Rotary Club Board approached CCPS superintendent Chris Bentzel this spring with the idea of helping fund the start-up of the clubs. The pilot Interact Clubs will focus on middle school programs (7th and 8th grade) with an eye toward launching high school clubs in near future.

Rotarians have pledged $30,000 over the next five years to fund both clubs and their sponsors at Hopkinsville and Christian County Middle Schools.

“It is important we treat participation in character building organizations the same as we do sports," said 71st Hopkinsville Rotary Auction Chair Cody Noffsinger. "We compensate coaches and we believe we should do the same for these ‘life-coach’ Interact Club sponsors to attract the brightest and best mentors that we can.”

“This gesture and opportunity to teach servant leadership in our schools fits perfectly with our desire to graduate the “whole student," added Bentzel.

The 2021-2022 Interact Sponsors are Kaydee Sevilla (Hopkinsville Middle School) and Brittany Normile (Christian County Middle School).

On Dec. 1, 2020, the Hopkinsville Rotary Club recognized its 100th anniversary. To correlate with this milestone anniversary, and in an effort to continue the momentum into another century of community-driven service, the club is launching the Hopkinsville Rotary Foundation — a charitable endowment that will offer grants to local initiatives, projects and efforts within the realm of youth and education.
