IMPORTANT NOTICE: SNAP Benefit Update

The Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP) continues to operate during October 2025 and individuals will receive their October benefits as usual.

Because of the federal government shutdown, Kentucky has been told that November 2025 SNAP benefits may be delayed if the shutdown continues. It is not yet known whether November benefits will be loaded on EBT cards on time, or at all, while the shutdown continues.

What SNAP participants should know:

• You will still get your October benefits.
• You can keep using any benefits already on your EBT card.
• This issue does not affect your eligibility for SNAP.
• DCBS offices are open and still taking applications. This includes benefits from the Simplified Assistance for the Elderly (SAFE) and Elderly Simplified Application Project (ESAP) programs.

For the latest updates, visit chfs.ky.gov/agencies/dcbs, check your kynect.ky.gov account, or watch for official DCBS texts or emails.

Hey Dads! We need your input! The Pennyrile CCC was recently awarded a grant from Commonwealth Center for Fathers & Families to start Fatherhood Cafes in several locations and Todd County is going to be our kicking off location. We will be partnering with Todd County FRYSC to help plan, spread word and invitations as well as host the Fatherhood Cafes. In an effort to get direct feed back from Dad on how the Fatherhood Cafes should look, we are asking any and all dads to complete a quick survey: https://forms.gle/RPwWu84zB4xigP86A

And we want all Dads! If you are the biological father, step dad, grandfather, adoptive, foster or any caregiver that fulfills "dad" in a child's life-then not only are included in wanting feed back but also, we want to invite you to attend the Fatherhood Cafes as well. Any and all feed back is so greatly appreciated! In completing the survey, if you complete the portion of names-you will be directly be contacted as dates are set for the cafes.

Please reach out to Sabrina if you have any questions at all at [email protected]

Share to reach as many dads as possible would be greatly appreciated!

The donation drive starts today!! We are at the Western Kentucky State Fair In the Convention Center accepting donations of gently used or new items for those needing some added support this Christmas season. We will be here from 10am to 4pm the 18th, 19th and 20th.

Donations being accepted include toys, baby gear, home goods, Christmas decor, shoes, coats and clothing. Of course wrapping paper, gift bags, tape, batteries and shopping bags will also be a great need and gladly accepted.

No donation is too small. Literally one baby doll, a truck, 1 coat, hair tools and more can be the difference in a child getting a Christmas gift or not.

Items donated will be offered to ANY family or person wanting to come and shop for free on the 21st.

If you have any question please do not hesitate to comment, message or email. Shares would be greatly appreciated.

Pennyrile and Purchase Area- Community Collaboration for Children

The Pennyrile Allied Community Services INC/Community Collaboration for Children is a federally funded program offered to the families of the Pennyrile (Counties of: Caldwell, Christian, Crittenden, Hopkins, Livingston, Lyon, Muhlenberg, Todd and Trigg) and Purchase (Counties of: Ballard, Calloway, Carlisle, Fulton, Graves, Hickman, Marshall and McCracken) area free of charge. What is the Community Collaboration for Children (CCC): The CCC is a specialized-voluntary- in home program offered to families through a federal grant-at no charge to the family at all. The CCC is offered to any family that may be struggling or needs some assistance or resources to positively parent their children, keep children safe and/or lower the number of children in foster care. The CCC is a prevention program which means the services are offered to families when the family is starting to have issues that if not addressed could lead to requiring DCBS involvement and before any abusive or neglectful actions take place.

Who can access the CCC: Almost any family with custody of their children (ages 0-under 18) can access the CCC In home Services. The CCC can work with these willing families as long as there is not a risk of removal from DCBS, active domestic violence, active drug use (a person in a recovery program or receiving other treatment can receive services though), active abuse (sexual, physical, emotional or neglect) or if the child is in the custody of DCBS, in the foster care system or in the juvenile justice system (though the Court Designated Worker program is allowed) . Anyone can refer a willing family-including the family reaching out to CCC themselves. To work with CCC does not require an outside referral source though community partners can refer a family who is voluntarily willing to work with CCC.

How does the program work: The CCC works with a family, in their home for a minimum of 2 hours a week for 8 weeks. During this time the Specialist will work with the family to address and assist issues the family wants to work on. Along with working with the family in their home, the Specialist will teach the family an Active Parenting Curriculum, go with the family to any appointments they may want an advocate of the family to go to and go to any school and/or parent teacher meetings-if the family so wants the Specialist to attend. The program takes a very strength based and hands on approach to working with families.

What can the CCC help with: the short answer is “everything”. The CCC can and has helped families with building a routine and structure in the home, budgeting, establishing rules for the home, helping families learn to cope and address behavioral issues or beginning to understand diagnosis. The CCC can help link families to needed resources, assist families in issues of truancy and can even help eliminate lice infestations and learn how to help prevent from re-infestations of lice. The CCC can and has helped families with nearly any issue that if not addressed and changed could result in the need of DCBS coming into the home and having to open an investigation of abuse/neglect and/or removal of children.
