We all know dodgeball is the greatest sport on Earth, but a group of elementary kids from the Saint Louis School in Pittsford, NY want to take dodgeball out of this world…literally. The Eight Magneteers, a F.I.R.S.T. Lego team, have invented a form of magnetic dodgeball for use IN SPACE to keep astronauts fit, motivated and mentally sharp. Imagine playing dodgeball in near zero-gravity, on a 360 degree/3 dimensional court, and with a ball that sticks when it hits you!

Out of 40,000 teams that competed globally, the Magneteers have advanced to the top 20 and will compete for the First Lego League Global Innovation Award next month in San Jose, CA. The team is currently working to build a prototype to demonstrate and you can help propel them to victory!

The Eight Magneteers were formed at the start of the 2018-2019 school year as one of two FIRST LEGO League teams of 4th and 5th graders at Saint Louis Catholic Elementary School.

On Saturday May 25 (Memorial Day Weekend), the World Dodgeball Association Americas Qualifier will be hosted by Dodgeball Niagara near Hamilton, Ontario, Canada. This event is what the Team USA Men, Women, and Coed teams must compete in to qualify for the 2020 Dodgeball World Cup. Our women’s spots are full for both the Women & Coed teams, but we’re looking for a couple more men to complete the Men & Coed rosters.

US Dodgeball is opening up video tryouts to make the final selections for these teams. The video submissions will be due Sunday March 31, at 11:59 p.m. EST. More information regarding the video application requirements and how to submit them will be announced in the coming days!

We have been overwhelmed by the outpouring of support from around the world in memory of Patrick Cushing. It is yet another testament to the type of player and person Cush was.

In honor and celebration of Patrick’s legacy, we are proud to present the collection.

These special-edition jerseys feature Cushing’s name and number along with a unique “98Forever” logo. The collection includes the actual US Dodgeball uniform like the one Patrick wore at the 2018 Dodgeball World Cup. All proceeds from the sale of these items will be presented to the to the Cushing family in memory of Pat.

It is with tremendous sadness that US Dodgeball announces the loss of our teammate and friend, Patrick “Cush” Cushing.
A leader of Team USA during both the 2016 and 2018 Dodgeball World Cups, Cushing proved himself one of the most agile and dominant players in the world. His no-holds-barred competitive spirit made him one of the most exciting and entertaining players to watch. Pat’s passion for the sport and always present laughter were infectious to those lucky enough to play alongside or against him.
Patrick Cushing wore the Stars and Stripes with pride. He represented the very best of America and the sport of dodgeball. Cushing’s unconditional kindness and ability to make friends of his fiercest competitors made him the consummate sportsman all dodgeballers strive to be.
US Dodgeball offers its deepest condolences and prayers to Cush’s family, friends and dodgeball family throughout the world. In honor of his incredible contributions to the sport of dodgeball and in memory of the amazing player and friend he was to so many around the world, US Dodgeball will retire his number, ensuring Patrick Cushing will remain .
