Sweet Connections: An Afternoon with the Superintendent on Saturday, June 13, from 4:00–6:00 PM at Finlay Park!

Enjoy a free afternoon of ice cream, conversation, and community with Superintendent Dr. Todd Walker. This is a wonderful opportunity to connect with district leadership, spend time with your family, and enjoy Columbia's newly renovated Finlay Park.

Today was all about fellowship, teamwork, strategy, and FUN at Southeast Middle School! 💚🦂

As we prepare for another amazing school year, our staff came together for team-building activities that reminded us what it means to be ALL IN, EVERY DAY, NO EXCUSES.

From dodgeball and relay races to balloon challenges and laughter-filled moments, every activity represented something bigger:
🏐 Dodging obstacles that may come our way
🎈 Working together under pressure
🏃 Building endurance and perseverance
🤝 Strengthening relationships and trust

Because serving our students with excellence takes more than preparation… it takes UNITY.

We are committed to creating an exceptional experience for every student and family that walks through our doors. Today reminded us that when we move together as a team, there’s nothing we can’t accomplish for our Scorpions!

A HUGE thank you to our amazing administration for planning such an impactful day and for blessing us with an incredible meal. Thank you as well to every staff member and team member who helped organize today’s activities and poured into making this day special.

We would like to take this opportunity to wish our Scorpion family a safe and happy summer. The previous school year was exceptional, and we are confident that the next year will be even more remarkable. A special congratulations to our now ninth grade students who will be moving onto high school. We wish you the best and we know that you will continue to make us proud .

📣 SCORPIONS… Let’s Start Strong This Summer!

Southeast Middle School is excited to offer our Start Strong Program for rising 6th, 7th, and 8th grade students attending SMS for the 2026–2027 school year! This program is designed to help students build confidence, strengthen academic skills, make new friendships, and prepare for a successful school year ahead.

🗓️ Program Dates: Monday–Thursday | June 29 – July 2
⏰ Time: 9:00 AM – 2:30 PM
📍 Location: Southeast Middle School

Students will enjoy:
✔️ Fun & engaging social-emotional learning activities
✔️ ELA & Math preparation
✔️ Academic skill building
✔️ Opportunities to connect with other students

🍎 Breakfast, lunch, and transportation will be provided!

💚🦂 Sometimes the smallest words leave the biggest impact. 🦂💚

During Teacher Appreciation Week, our students were given special cards with messages like:

✨ “Give this to a teacher who makes you feel seen.”
✨ “Give this to a teacher who always puts a smile on your face.”
✨ “Give this to a teacher who makes you feel special.”

Students also wrote on the card explaining what the teacher did to make them feel this way.

What happened next was something truly beautiful.

These moments captured the heart of Southeast Middle School relationships, love, encouragement, and the power of teachers who show up for students every single day. From hugs and smiles to tears and laughter, this video is a reminder that teaching is so much more than lessons and grades… it’s about making students feel valued, heard, and loved.
