Monday night’s program was presented by Gina Perkins and Marlon Ward on behalf of The CALL. The CALL is a non-profit organization that works with churches and state agencies to recruit, train and support foster children and their families in Arkansas.

Gina provided an informative and personal perspective regarding foster children and foster parents. Hempstead and Nevada Counties are fortunate to have dedicated and compassionate volunteers for this important work.

Monday night’s program was presented by Dr. Rick Tompkins, Chancellor at UAHT since February 2026. Ricky is a graduate of Hope High School (class of 1991) and is excited to be back in his hometown.

He spoke about various programs and scholarships at UAHT and stressed that the school is actively working and encouraging students to stay in this area and make a difference. He also spoke about some of the physical improvements being made and planned.

We all enjoyed the program and Dr. Tompkins’ enthusiasm and commitment to this area.

Saturday - Sept 12 - was our monthly food distribution. Thank you to all who helped serve our community.

Club member, Judee Gunter, shared a touching moment during Saturday’s food distribution.

“I had a teary moment today at our Evening Lions Club food distribution when one of our customers said to me, “My food stamps have been cut from $80 a month to $14 a month. You guys are such a blessing.” It was just a reminder of how hard times are and how much these sweet people are suffering. If you’d like to help, come join us the second Saturday of every month.”

We Serve.
