Looking for a chance to get outside, enjoy the summer weather, and experience the beauty of our local waterways? Join us for a bike ride on the Paulinskill Rail Trail on Thursday, July 30 from 9:00 AM–12:30 PM.

We’ll bike alongside the Paulins Kill from Footbridge Park toward the county line, taking in the landscapes, wildlife, and natural spaces that make this watershed such a special place.

Connecting with nature helps us understand why protecting our lands and waters matters. Through watershed stewardship and community engagement, we work to ensure these places remain healthy, accessible, and enjoyed for generations to come.

🌿 A peaceful paddle and a reminder of why protecting our waters matters.

Saturday’s paddle on Paulins Kill Lake started with calm waters, sunshine and beauty of the watershed. From the Plotts/Parsons Road launch site in the Wildlife Management Area, the journey south brought us through a stunning display of American Lotus blooms, a native plant that provides important habitat and food for wildlife, including waterfowl. Along the way, we spotted ducks, a Great Blue Heron soaring overhead, and enjoyed the quiet connection that comes from spending time on a healthy, thriving waterway.

These moments highlight why watershed protection is at the heart of our work. Healthy waterways don’t just support native plants and wildlife, they create opportunities for our communities to explore, recreate, and build a deeper connection with the natural world. Through conservation, education, and stewardship, we work to protect the lands and waters that sustain us. Ensuring places like the Paulins Kill remain vibrant for generations to come.

A huge thank you to everyone who came out for the Heartland of Sussex County Spring Cleanup and helped make the day such a success. It was incredible to see neighbors, families, and volunteers come together to care for the places we all share.
