We are sharing this message from the Hoover Arts Alliance. No matter what you think of the proposed sports complex (although it's hard to have an opinion on something about which there is so little information), the mayor and city council should provide the citizens with information and gauge public interest before undertaking a $70 million project. They plan to vote on it at tomorrow's city council meeting. 6 p.m. at city hall.
Dear Hoover Arts Alliance Member,
Just wanted to make you aware of the City’s plans for a new 70 million dollar Sports Complex project to be voted on by the Council this coming Monday night. See hooversun.com for details. The article states that City officials are being “tight lipped” about this facility proposal till the vote on the Monday, Dec. 21st., 6:00. City Hall.
Details of the complex are sketchy but no mention of a performance center is made. There will be meeting rooms, an area for car shows etc. and some type ball fields as per the article . Those of you with children or grandchildren in music, choral, dance, or drama programs may want to contact a Councilman before the Monday night meeting. Also those of you who are aware that Hoover is limited by lack of a larger capacity venue from having first tier high end shows and performers appear in the City might want to share their thoughts with Jack Wright, Council President, Brian Skelton, Vice Chair, Council members or call City Hall Monday (444-7500).
This is the holiday season and I know you are busy with family and last minute preparations. This message is a “heads up”. The Alliance strives to keep you in the loop.
Blessings of the Season,
