Today, our regional directors and executive staff came together for a strategic planning session to collaborate, share ideas, and look ahead at how we can continue growing our impact across Alabama.

With everyone spread out across the state, it’s not often that we’re all in the same room, so days like today are extra special. A little strategy, a lot of teamwork, and plenty of laughs along the way!💚

We love this throwback picture longtime Dothan volunteer Beth Harkins sent us! Beth & Dr. Osunsanya went to the Montgomery Kidney Walk in 2012 to start the process of having a Kidney Walk in the Wiregrass area! We can't thank our volunteers in Dothan enough for all the hard work they've put into in helping AKF build a community for Wiregrass kidney patients!

Former Auburn and NFL star Willie Anderson is sharing an inspiring update five months after receiving a lifesaving kidney transplant — and both he and his donor are thriving.

After battling kidney disease for nearly a decade, Anderson underwent transplant surgery on March 3. His donor was someone incredibly close to him: his girlfriend. Today, he’s down to 280 pounds and working toward his next goal, while she just completed her 12th Peachtree Road Race.

Anderson has faced several post‑transplant infections and hospitalizations, but he continues to push forward and recently underwent a procedure he hopes will reduce future setbacks. He credits the support, prayers, and encouragement from fans for helping him stay focused on recovery.

His message is one our community knows well: living kidney donation saves lives.

Jeff Gatlin has lived with Polycystic Kidney Disease (PKD) since he was a teenager. Now, his kidney function has declined to just 9%. He’s now preparing for dialysis while hoping and praying for a living kidney donor.
