Sometimes serving others is exactly what we need to slow down. 🤍

“Serving at FeedBHM Hoover has opened my eyes to how easy it is to help serve and support my community. Whether it is a short food rescue or a few hours at the FeedBHM facility, I am able to work alongside others to help those in need.

Not only is it available and easy, but it helps slow me down from the hustle and bustle of life and focus on what truly matters: loving just as Jesus has loved me.”
— Cade Walls

Cade models how serving others includes loving people, building community, and living like Jesus. 🤍

Thank You Spotlight 📣

To our incredible community partners: your generosity puts love into action! Together, we are meeting real needs, serving our neighbors, and making a meaningful difference in the lives of local families.

⭐ Meet Becca, Michael, and Carl, team members at Soho Social Homewood. We are incredibly thankful for the Soho group of restaurants for their generosity, including donations benefiting our Golf Invitational and back-to-school shopping event.

⭐ Next up was Frothy Monkey, where Izzie accepted flowers on behalf of the team.

⭐ Our wonderful intern, Alina, also visited a few of our amazing donors. She first stopped by .homewood in Vestavia. They continue to bless us with their delicious rolls, and we couldn’t be more thankful!

⭐ Meet Stephanie of Saw’s BBQ Hoover! She happily accepted our token of appreciation on behalf of the wonderful team at Saw’s. We are so grateful for Saw’s continued partnership through generous food donations and gift cards. Your support means so much to us.

⭐ We delivered Love Does to Helena Intermediate School and had a wonderful conversation with Sarah Hopper. The students are excitedly looking forward to their upcoming field trip on October 29 to FeedBHM Bessemer! We’re grateful for the opportunity to connect with the students and look forward to an impactful and meaningful experience together.

A first year group of students came from Cumberland School of Law to strengthen food distribution and bale cardboard at FeedBHM Clay. We are grateful for their hands, their energy, and their willingness to jump into any project to provide good food to more families.

We welcomed Kamaryn, founder of Wellness Transit, for a tour of Grace Klein Community and discovered so many ways our missions connect.

Wellness Transit supports individuals with housing and valuable community resources, while GKC works to connect rescued food and tangible resources with people who need them.

We are excited to partner with Wellness Transit through clothing and shoe donations, shared resources, and a mutual commitment to serving our community.

And of course, we could not send Kamaryn off to her next meeting empty-handed. 🍓 Strawberries for the road!

Have resources or tangible donations you would like to share with our community? Reach out and we will find a way to serve together.🤝

"My in-laws came over for Sunday dinner, so what better way to have dessert AND talk about where our food comes from! 🍓🥥

The strawberries and coconut shavings came from GKC, directions included! SO easy and low budget. I only purchased cream cheese ($1.95), vanilla extract ($5.25), and honey ($4.25).

I even got these cute heart-shaped pans from the Give & Take Room! ❤️

I added a few fresh strawberry pieces and WHEW… cheesecake bites! 😂🍓

My in-laws already hear me talk about GKC all the time, and they’ve even donated shoes before! I love showing how something donated can come straight to our family table. 🙌🏽" ----- Nicole Smith 💚🍓

700+ pounds of good food rescued. 💚

Last weekend, we once again had the opportunity to volunteer with our friends from Amavida Coffee Roasters and rescue food from Southbound Food + Fire on Saturday and Funk Brunch on Sunday.

These were both the final events in more than a week of incredible food experiences in Birmingham.

We are grateful to connect Grace Klein Community with talented chefs and attendees and rescue good food for a final destination to families and individuals experiencing food insecurity.

The chefs see food waste firsthand and chose to donate surplus food so good food reaches people instead of the landfill.

Every pound makes a difference. Together, we . 💚
