Hooper Area Community Foundation More About Us

The Hooper Area Community Foundation (HACF) Endowment Fund was started in 2009 with a matching gift from the Fremont Area Community Foundation.

The HACF strives to support activities which provide civic, educational, health/recreation, social services, and arts/culture benefits to Hooper, Nebraska, and its surrounding area by providing a means for receiving donations that benefit the community. Mission Statement

The Hooper Area Community Foundation strives to support activities which provide civic, educational, health/recreation, social

services, and arts/culture benefits to Hooper, Nebraska, and its surrounding area by providing a means for receiving donations that benefit the community. The Hooper Area Community Foundation Board annually may utilize some of the growth dividends of the fund for specific request from non-profits in the Hooper area. The first major project completed by the HACF from the Community Improvement Fund was the establishment of a sign at the entrance to Hooper from HWY 275. This project was completed through the generous donations from the Hooper Commercial Club and community members. The HACF Community Improvement Fund is only limited in gifting by the amount of funds available to provide assistance to charitable projects being undertaken in the Hooper area. Annually the HACF has been able to donate to projects at the Senior Center, Library, Swimming pool, Main Street signs and other smaller projects. Through generous donations the HACF was also able to sponsor the construction of a basketball/pickle ball court in the Hooper City park in 2017. Recently, the HACF Community Improvement Fund has been utilized by the Dream Field committee to solicit funds for the renovation of the Baseball field. Funds raised in the 2022 Fremont Area Big Give were used to revitalize the plants and landscaping around the sign at the entrance to Hooper. Gifts made to the HACF during the Big Give 2023 will be designated to the Logan View Youth Ball Association to replace a significant amount of equipment which is very expensive. Youth Ball Association participants already pay a significant fee to participate in summer ball. This would help keep fees down so that summer ball is financially accessible to all youth wanting to participate. We appreciate your support!

What is the BIG GIVE?

The Fremont Area Big Give is a 24-hour online giving challenge led by the Fremont Area Community Foundation to raise unrestricted dollars for the nonprofits in our area. It is a day to celebrate the power of philanthropy and support the good work of nonprofits who help make the Fremont area a special place to live, work and thrive.

Rails to Trails will be a walking/biking trail that will follow the old FEVR rail line going from Hwy 77 to the west edge of Hooper.

Currently there are funds from the Fremont Rotary Club to deck the bridge along the Hooper section to Hwy 77 and they are also purchasing a bench to be installed somewhere along the path as a resting place.

Bids are being gathered for grading and constructing of the asphalt path. Not only is there the cost for the asphalt path but we will also need signage, entrance bollards and other miscellaneous expenses for the project such as small shelters and a trail head with information on the history of the FEVR line.

Any funds raised during this year’s Big Give will go towards this project. The goal is to start construction this summer!
