🏫 Hooksett School Board Meeting Recap – August 18, 2026
The Hooksett School Board held its regular meeting on Tuesday, August 18. Here are some of the highlights:
📋 District Business
The Board worked through several items related to the start of the 2026–2027 school year, including reviewing and approving the instructional time schedules for Underhill, Memorial, and Cawley.
💰 Financial & Bond Compliance
The district received the $6.25m from July’s municipal bond sale. The Board approved a post-issuance tax compliance policy for tax-exempt obligations. The policy establishes procedures for monitoring bond proceeds, maintaining required records, ensuring proper use of bond-funded assets, and meeting federal tax requirements.
🎓 Pinkerton Academy

The Hooksett School Board will meet on Tuesday, August 18, at 6pm for its first regular meeting of the new school year at the Cawley Middle School Media Center. On the agenda:

(1) Pinkerton Academy: Headmaster Tim Powers will discuss the Academy, with a focus on the structural supports PA provides to students as they transition to Pinkerton.

(2) School Updates: SchoolCare, staffing, the school calendar, insurance, and instructional time.

(3) Policies: Artificial Intelligence, post issuance requirements for bonds, and pupil safety.

(4) Financial Updates

The Hooksett School Board held a very quick meeting Monday night to approve a nomination for a new Kindergarten teacher. All open positions for the upcoming school year have now been filled.

On July 15, the New Hampshire Municipal Bond Bank (NHMBB) issued $77.8 million in tax-exempt bonds for 18 projects including the Hooksett School District facilities project approved by voters in March. The true interest rate on our $15-year loan is $3.57%. Voters approved a $7.25m project in March. The Board voted to allocate $1 million from fund balance to the facilities project, to borrow less money and save taxpayers nearly $300k in project financing costs. Thus, Hooksett’s portion of the July bond issuance is $6.25m.

📚 Hooksett School Board Meeting Recap | June 16, 2026
The Hooksett School Board met on Tuesday, June 16, at David R. Cawley Middle School for our June Board meeting.
We began the evening by recognizing and honoring our retirees, Mrs. Olsen and Mrs. Devereaux, for their many years of dedicated service to the Hooksett School District. Thank you both for the lasting impact you have made on our students, staff, and community. 💙
Highlights from the meeting included:
✅ Continued work on finalizing the School Board's 2026-2027 goals and assigning Board Members to committees that will support those priorities.
💻 Approved $113,530.30 in fund balance to support technology purchases, including 300 new student chromebooks. The district intends to make this purchase before expected technology price increases.
📖 Approved updates to the 2026-2027 Student Handbook.
👩‍🏫 Approved the Superintendent's teaching and athletic nominations for the upcoming school year.
📋 Reviewed a number of School Board policies as part of the district's ongoing policy review process.
💰 Approved manifests and reviewed the district's expenditure report.
🎉 Accepted, with gratitude, $6,000 in donations from two local businesses, Hooksett New World Gas Station and Jersey Mike's.
☀️ Approved a new summer camp program that will be held at Memorial School this summer.
🗣️ During our second public input session, State Representative Keith Murphy
joined us to share comments and perspectives with the Board.
🔒 The Board concluded the evening by entering into non-public session.
📅 Our next meeting will be a Public Hearing on Monday, June 22, at 6:00 PM at David R. Cawley Middle School. We encourage community members to attend and stay informed about district business.

Hooksett School Board Meeting Notice

The Hooksett School Board will hold a special meeting on Wednesday, June 10, 2026, at 6:00 p.m. in the David R. Cawley Middle School Media Center.

The primary agenda item is to approve the bond documents related to the school renovation project approved by voters in March. The Board voted last week to reduce the school renovation bond from $7.25 million to $6.25 million, with the remaining $1 million of project work funded through the district's fund balance, to save taxpayers nearly $300,000 in estimated interest payments over 15 years.

This meeting provides an opportunity for the Board to review and discuss details of the bond package as planning continues.

Hooksett School Board Meeting Update from June 2, 2026 Board Retreat.

The Hooksett School Board met on June 2nd for our annual retreat and took action on several important items affecting our schools and community.

The Board voted to reduce the proposed school renovation bond from $7.25 million to $6.25 million, with the remaining $1 million funded through the district's fund balance in order to help tax payers reduce their debt obligation down to $6.25M, saving taxpayers in interest payments over 15 years.

The Board unanimously approved the Superintendent's nomination of Amy Gentile as the new Principal of Hooksett Memorial School. Congratulations, Amy!

The Board continued discussions regarding district goals and will finalize its 2026-2027 School Board goals at the June 16 meeting.

The Board approved funding for:
- AED battery replacements ($1,000)
- Strategic Planning efforts ($30,000)
- Emergency capital repairs and maintenance projects ($160,000)

The Hooksett School Board annual retreat is tonight at 5:00p.

The Hooksett School Board met on May 19th for another productive meeting focused on students, district operations, and planning.
We were honored to have Nora W., a busy and well-rounded 5th grader, lead the Board in the Pledge of Allegiance.
Superintendent Rearick updated the Board on two administrator hiring committees and discussed several education-related bills currently being considered in the New Hampshire House that could impact district operations if passed.
The District Business Administrator provided an update on food services, including the current deficit of approximately $30,000 in unpaid meal balances.
The Board was informed that the district’s $7,250,000 bond application was officially approved by the New Hampshire Municipal Bond Bank, and continues to prepare for the July bond sale. It is also undertaking its five-year contract revision opportunity with Pinkerton Academy.
The Board reviewed policies and accepted resignations and nominations of school personnel.
