The 44 Trails Association (44Trails) is a non-profit group that maintains the multiuse trail network on the east side of the Mt Hood NF along FR44 and south to Boulder Lakes.

6/4 UPDATE…
We have cleared most all of the network of downfall and now moving on to brushing and trailwork.

Pls join us this weekend (6/7 ) at the Hub to help. We will have a shuttle van for those wanting to ride after. If you cannot make it, a donation (44trails.org) goes a long way to keeping the trails running, thank you!

>Forest Crk almost finished, 60 trees
>CraneCrk & Boulder Lake cleared, 70 trees
>Hidden Meadows cleared, 82 trees
>Upper/middle Cooks mostly cleared, 12 trees remaining but ran into snow. 60+ trees.
>Lower Cooks partially cleared, 80 trees.
>Cedar and lower fifteen mile are cleared, 98 trees, two bridges at bottom damaged
>Fifteen mile to Underhill is cleared, 100 trees.
>Lookout/450 is clear, 80+30 trees
>Bottle Prairie, Knebal and 8mi are now cleared. 95+38+81 trees cleared.
>Dog River is cleared and riding great. Stump hole fixed.
>North section line needs some tread work and brush work. 42 trees cleared.
>Entire Surveyors, super duper connector, super connector and part of Knebal Springs is open. 60 trees cleared.
>Zig Zag and Oakridge are cleared

>Fifteen mile to Underhill is cleared, 100 trees. Cedar and lower fifteen mile we will attack on Thursday/friday
>Lookout/450 is clear to the twin bridges and then snow above, 80 trees
>Bottle Prairie, Knebal and 8mi are now cleared. Little bit of snow in the shaded areas and 8mi has some dense brush. 95+38+81 trees cleared.
>Dog River is cleared and riding great. Stump hole fixed.
>North section line needs some tread work and brush work. 42 trees cleared.
>Entire Surveyors, super duper connector, super connector and part of Knebal Springs is open. 60 trees cleared.
>Zig Zag and Oakridge are cleared

Happy Spring (a bit late), this is what surveyors looked like after a rowdy winter but thanks to some hard working and dedicated folk, here is the early status…

Surveyors is now clear from the North to about Brooks Meadow, which is the approximate snowline. Surveyors from dog river almost to the hub (still snow) is cleared. Dog river, Zig zag and Oakridge are all cleared. Dog River has some trail damage halfway up due to a tree and the lower bridge has a case of the leans. We'll get after as we can but the priority is to log and open the network.

FS17 is clear from 35 to 44 but then 44 is a sheet of ice.

Just the Surveyors portion involved 100+ trees…with the light snowpack, they are getting after it for a very early opening of 44T so stay tuned. More to come.

Dog River Trail Work Day - Saturday, Aug 16

What: Dog River Puncheon Repair
When: Saturday, August 16, 2025 @ 9am to approx. 1pm
Where: Dog River TH parking

Please join us this Saturday, August 14th, for a trail work event with the 44Trails Association.

Lunch provided courtesy of New York City Subs. Bring water, gloves, a hard hat (or bike helmet), and boots or sturdy shoes. We will provide all tools. Look forward to seeing you there!

We will park in Dog River TH and shuttle volunteers up to the top of Dog River. Bring your bike if you want to ride down after we are done.

Heads up 44 riders!

The Hood Hundred trail running event takes place this weekend, July 26-27, and runners will be on much of the 44 Trails system. Cooks, 15-Mile, 8-Mile, High Prairie, Bottle Prairie, Knebal and the southern end of Surveyor's are on course.
