Where: Mark Hatfield Mosier Twin Tunnels Trailhead, Hood River, OR
What: 10K, 5K, 9 Miles, and 100-meter dash.

Today is a heavy day for us.

In 2021, on this day, after undergoing multiple brain surgeries, Ezra was officially diagnosed with medulloblastoma—brain cancer. I remember the world closing in around us and everything going dark. He was three years old.

In 2022, on this day, after Ezra finished multiple rounds of chemotherapy, stem cell transplants, radiation, and multiple other surgeries, we thought Ezra was getting better. He seemed better. But his brain scan showed that his cancer was back, and that made him incurable. Incurable. The worst word.

The next few months were spent doing anything and everything we could for Ezra, but ultimately you can't beat incurable.

Love forever little blue. We love you forever.

Mid-November we made the trip out to Doctor Myron Evans's lab to donate a check of $5,508, raised by our caring community to further the research of pediatric brain cancer.

Doctor Evans's lab has been working on research specifically for medulloblastoma, including the most aggressive types, which Ezra had. He hopes to be able to open a clinical trial with children within the year.

Funding for pediatric brain cancer is severely limited and relies on donations to operate. It's not that the researchers don't have the information needed; it's that they can't get the funding.

Thank you again to our community for rallying around a cause to honor Ezra Blue's life and for helping secure a future where other children can live in health and joy.

And thank you to Doctor Myron Evans for choosing to focus on finding a cure.

This year we harvested 34 Ezra pumpkins! This is the third year we’ve harvested pumpkins born from Ezra’s pumpkins in 2022.
It’s such a fun way to gently honor him and the things he loved and he loved his pumpkins.

THE COUNT IS IN! This year, we raised a total of $5,009 to donate to Seattle Children's Research Institute! We are planning a trip there sometime mid November to present them with the check. Thank you all so much for joining us; we can't wait to see you all again next year 💙

A note from Ezra's mom: It means the world to me to see so many people come together to honor my son and to support the furthering of research into children's brain cancers. The sad truth is that children's cancer and treatments don't get nearly enough funding. A lot of the funding does end up coming from people like this community. I am so grateful to everyone who donated, showed up, ran, walked, danced, and spread the word.

Ezra was my best friend. He endured so much, and he faced it all with laughter and love. He was love in human form. I desperately wish that he had gotten a chance to live a longer and healthier life. We do this for him, and for all the other children around the world. We do this so that they might have a chance.

Truly, I just want to express my gratitude to our community for showing up in all the different ways. We couldn't do this without you. Thank you, Hannah Duckwall

As YOU GET TO begin implementing early bed time this weekend..

As YOU GET TO make sure the clothes are ready.. the book bags are packed.. the fridge is stocked.. and the pencils are sharpened..

As YOU GET TO fill the calendar.. organize the schedule and plan out who will take who where and what time..

As YOU GET TO wake up extra early on Monday to pack a variety of different lunches with twenty different options and write little notes..

As YOU GET TO walk them to the bus stop or up the stairs to those big doors..

I hope YOU remember THIS..

Thank you to everyone who donated and came out to run in Ezra's honor. Today is his birthday; he would have been eight years old. Be on the lookout for our post of the total funds raised this year! We can't wait to take it up to Seattle Children's Research Institute to further progress research into brain cancers like Ezra's. Thank you all! Happy birthday to Ezra Blue 💙
