A note from the Heart of Hospice Volunteer Coordinator, Rheva Wren:
Hello Foundation Friends,
Some days the Foundation does huge amazing things like safeguarding someone from losing their home, flying a family member to say a last goodbye, or put food on the table. Some days we do little things that I don't think most of you hear about.
Andi (HoH nurse extraordinaire) told me one of her patients loved to color little blessing cards and wanted to share some with families we serve; she said it would make her feel useful. The little cards she liked were only $5 a box, so I ordered two and sent them with Andi. Two days before this lady passed, she finished her blessing cards and sent them back to the office to be shared with others who might need a boost in their day.
You didn't know about this because it was such a small expenditure, but in our patient's' heart, it meant feeling useful and sharing her kindness. Despite it being small in terms of dollars, it was a pretty big thing. We were also able to get her a thank you note before she passed.
Thank you for doing the big things, and the little ones too.
