Yesterday, CareResource Hawaiʻi healthcare workers took action through leafleting and sign holding to raise awareness about ongoing issues impacting both workers and patient care.
For nearly TWO YEARS, CRH healthcare professionals have been bargaining for their first contract while continuing to care for some of Oʻahu’s most vulnerable patients - kūpuna, recently hospitalized patients, and those recovering safely at home.
This action was about protecting a home healthcare system that patients and families rely on every day.
Workers continue to raise concerns about repeated payroll and PTO discrepancies, with some employees not being paid correctly or on time. At the same time, staffing shortages, turnover, and increasing workloads continue to strain the workers providing care in our communities.
When healthcare workers are overwhelmed, burned out, or leaving the profession, patients feel the impact:
• Longer waits for care
• Delayed follow-up visits
• Increased stress on families and caregivers
• Less support for vulnerable patients trying to remain safely at home
CRH workers are fighting for:
• Safe, quality patient care
• Sustainable staffing and workloads
• Stability in working conditions
• Respect for home healthcare professionals
• Accountability and fairness in the workplace
Strong home healthcare keeps people out of the hospital and connected to care in the comfort of their homes. That benefits all of Hawaiʻi.
Healthcare workers are standing together because our community and our patients deserve better.
