As we wait for Queen’s to come to the bargaining table this morning (after already delaying for two hours), we remind ourselves why we are here. Last Friday, we took the fight to the heart of the Queen’s Health Systems at Punchbowl. Wahiawā RNs, backed by the community, delivered a petiton of over 1,200 names, and talked about coming home as a Queen’s nurse when Wahiawa General was bought, but being disappointed at the disparity in compensation, benefits, protections, etc. Ikaika M L Hussey talked about Queen Emma’s promise to the Kanaka Maoli and how she would stand on the side of the workers if she was here today. Anuhea, a social worker in Wahiawā, said how important a strong Wahiawa hospital is to the overall health and mental health support to her clients. Lastly, Laulani Teale laulani_tea led us in mele to celebrate the fight of the working class.

Just yesterday, at the Wahiawa Neighborhood Board meeting, Amy Perruso reminded everyone of Queen’s broken promises to reopen the hospital and take care of its nurses.

Today, we hope that Queen’s has heard our rallying cry. We are one Queen’s. We expect One Standard of Care. Wahiawā deserves equality!

Queen’s Respiratory Therapists Prevail at the National Labor Relations Board!

In April 2025, the majority of Queen’s Manamana respiratory therapists voted in favor of joining HNA. Instead of honoring the democratic choice of their workers, Queen’s executives filed futile, union-busting appeals to the NLRB in the hopes of stalling out the RTs’ progress toward improving their working conditions.

The Board has finally come back with a decision rejecting Queen’s appeal and affirming that the election was correctly ordered and fairly won.

With the Board decision now issued, we are calling on Queen’s to come to the table with their workers and bargain in good faith!

Since The Queen’s Health Systems purchased Wahiawā General, the nurses have been fighting for a fair contract. All they ask for is EQUALITY with the nurses at Manamana and West. Thank you to all of our supporters who signed the petition and local businesses that put up signs! Wahiawā deserves the same quality and standards of care for patients and staff! One Queen’s Ohana, One Standard of Care.
