Aloha ke Kai is a nonprofit, voluntary marine debris removal organization dedicated to the health of our marine ecosystems and wildlife. Aloha ke Kai is part of the From Mauka to Makai network, a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization. Our mission is to educate the public about the dangers of marine debris through underwater cleanups in Hawai’i; support legislation and practices to eliminate marine debr
is; and promote marine conservation through hands on education snorkeling, free diving, and scuba diving in the ocean. Marine life is being endangered by marine debris through entanglement, plastic ingestion, invasive species attaching to marine debris, and ecosystem alteration. *According to the EPA, 100,000 marine mammals die each year as a result of ingesting or being entangled in marine debris. We are actively working towards not only reducing marine debris, but also ways to eliminate marine debris through new legislation, natural products, innovative ocean filtration systems, and educating potential man-made sources of marine debris.
