The Choice Project Oahu is a local organization founded on Oahu,Hawaii aimed at reaching out to the homeless, and empowering them to make timely and beneficial choices. To facilitate the establishment of a dialogue, we are handing out supplies in a package called "The Choice Box". We have compiled a plethora of information in the pages of a pamphlet called “The Thurvival Guide”. It serves as a one
-stop-shop to inform them of the services at their disposal to address their immediate needs in an effort to uplift and empower them to use the information to move beyond their current situation. The supplies include: hygiene items(soap bar, deodorant, disposable razors, toothpaste, toothbrush, wet wipes), socks, notebook and pen, and first aid kits. We now function under the Holistic Environmental Stewardship Foundation (HESF) (501c3) and so all donations will be tax deductible as well. We are accepting donations, in the form of time, supplies, and funding from anyone wishing to provide them. We usually hand out sandwiches and other light foodstuffs and just take the time to connect with the families and individuals and let them know that they are cared for. We generally go out on Sunday afternoons for a couple of hours. We have started with Kakaako Park area and China-Town and plan to make our way around the island as time and resources permit.
