Ito Yosakoi 糸よさこい

ITO YOSAKOI (pronounced: yoh-sah-coy) is a yosakoi dance group based in San Francisco Japantown. We still hold weekly classes, both online and in person.

We practice weekly as a program of Japanese Cultural and Community Center of Northern California (JCCCNC). Ito Yosakoi is a yosakoi dance team that was founded in January 2017 to promote yosakoi as a cultural art and support the Japanese American community through dance. Our name Ito (糸 “Thread”) emphasizes the relationship woven together between members of a community and highlights Ito’s goal of

weaving dance and community together. No dance experience is necessary to join Ito. We welcome all who are willing to learn and open to trying new experiences! Email [email protected] for more information.

Our first performance of the year brought some members back to their alma mater 🐻🎓

We had a blast introducing yosakoi to UC Berkeley students through our performance and interactive workshop! And what a full circle moment to return to the campus where some of our members got their start in yosakoi 💃
