Earlier this year, Kuʻi Hao partnered with Project MFG to bring career exploration opportunities to Baldwin High School's Career and Technical Education (CTE) Academy students.

Representatives from Mahi Pono, Alpha Construction, and Maui Auto Care shared their experiences and insights into careers across agriculture, construction, and the automotive industry, helping students connect their classroom learning to real-world career opportunities.

By connecting students with local industry professionals, we're helping inspire the next generation of Hawaiʻi's skilled workforce.

Hawaiʻi's advanced manufacturing workforce is gaining national recognition.

A recent feature highlights Honolulu Community College's Advanced Manufacturing Program and Facility—the first of its kind in Hawaiʻi—and the partnerships helping prepare local residents for high-demand careers.

Made possible through collaboration between Honolulu Community College, Kuʻi Hao, and the U.S. Department of Defense's Industrial Base Analysis and Sustainment (IBAS) Program, the facility provides hands-on training in machining, fabrication, precision tools, and digital systems that reflect today's modern manufacturing environments.

By creating local pathways to skilled careers, the program is helping strengthen Hawaiʻi's workforce while supporting the industries that keep our communities, economy, and national defense strong.

Investing in the next generation of skilled trades starts with providing students access to the right tools.

Through the Kuʻi Hao initiative, a new welding fume extraction system was installed at Kailua High School in partnership with Rob Morrow, the American Welding Society, and D&M Industrial Repair Services.

This equipment helps create a safer, industry-ready learning environment where students can develop hands-on welding skills and prepare for careers in Hawaiʻi's growing advanced manufacturing workforce.

Congratulations to the graduates of Cohort II of the Advanced Manufacturing Training Program!

On June 10, we celebrated another group of dedicated participants who completed this intensive 15-week program at Honolulu Community College. Through hands-on training in machining, welding, and advanced manufacturing, these graduates have gained industry-ready skills that strengthen Hawaiʻi's workforce and support the future of our state's industrial base.

Designed for incumbent Hawaiʻi workers, active-duty military personnel, and local civilian employees, the program prepares participants to meet the evolving demands of today's advanced manufacturing industry while creating pathways to high-quality careers.

Mahalo to our partners for making this program possible: the Office of the Assistant Secretary of Defense for Industrial Base Policy & resource sponsor, Industrial Base Analysis and Sustainment (IBAS) Program, Honolulu Community College, and BG Workforce.

Congratulations to Cohort II—we look forward to seeing the impact you'll make across Hawaiʻi's manufacturing workforce!
