HAPPY MOTHERS DAY!!! (Part 1)
One of our greatest joys and blessing is that each year, starting many moons ago, we have been very fortunate and honored to be apart of and able to help share the joy with the Adopt-A-Mother celebration held each year for the residents of Hale Pulama Mau.
Organized by the beautiful women of the Japanese Women’s Society Foundation each year, the celebration is held to adopt the mom’s (and dad’s) to acknowledge and appreciate all the contributions and values made by our kupuna whether it was to the keiki at home or to the community at-large.
This time honored event, starting in 1996, brings members together with notable guests from government, consulate, community and let’s not forget, the beautiful Cherry Blossom Queen and Court Along with the many delicious dishes and various cultural groups to help entertain and bring smiles and laughter to our kupuna as we celebrate them.
This year is the first year back for the event since covid forced many people/organizations/businesses to close their doors or shut down for everyone’s safety.
We, along with everyone else, are so happy that the JWSF made sure this, along with many of their other events did not shut down for good or be forgotten.
We thank the JWSF for their continuous tireless and selfless contributions to our families and communities.
And thank everyone who helps to contribute to such wonderful events such as this.
As my mother always said, passing down generations of good advice and guidance: “Do the right thing. Not the popular thing. Because the popular thing most times tends to be self serving and creates war. The right thing is selfless and benefits the good for everyone. It creates happiness, love and peace”…..
