Make-A-Wish Hawaii (MAWH) creates life-changing wishes for children with critical illnesses. We seek to bring every eligible child’s wish to life, because a wish is an integral part of a child’s medical journey. Research shows children who have wishes granted can build the physical and emotional strength they need to fight their illness. Headquartered in Honolulu, MAWH is considered one of the top

charities in the state, with every dollar raised in Hawaii staying in Hawaii to support local wishes. Our organization has been transforming lives, and uniting our Hawaii community in the process, for 40 years. One of the first local chapters established, MAWH continues to be among the busiest in the nation. Together, generous donors, supporters, staff and more than 400 volunteers have granted more than 1,500 wishes for local keiki across the state of Hawaii since 1982 and have hosted more than 17,000 others for children around the world for wishes to visit our islands.

You’ve got a friend in me. 💙✨

This weekend’s Toy Story buzz has us reminiscing about Kaylie’s special visit to Toy Story Land during her wish to go to Walt Disney World®!

At just 5 years old, Kaylie from Waipahu bravely endured a year of chemotherapy for her rare disease. Her wish trip gave her and her family the chance to leave treatment behind for a little while and step into a world of play, laughter, and imagination.

From exploring Toy Story Land to making magical memories together, the experience was a reminder that sometimes the best adventures happen when you reach for infinity and beyond. 🚀

Mahalo to First Insurance Company of Hawaii, LTD for helping make Kaylie’s wish come true. 💫

If you or someone you know is interested in becoming a Wish Granter, we’ve got great news! The next statewide, virtual Wish Granter training session will be held Saturday, July 19, from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. 🗓️

Wish Granters work with a partner to meet with wish kids and their families to help determine their heartfelt wishes, and then work with our staff to make those wishes a reality. Each wish is a uniquely personal decision and represents hope, strength, and joy during an otherwise difficult time for a child facing a critical illness.

Registration is limited! If you’re interested in attending, please email Will Phelps at [email protected].

Living with a critical illness often means spending more time focused on treatments, appointments, and medical needs than on simply being a kid.

Children ages 2 ½ to 17 who depend on Total Parenteral Nutrition (TPN) may be eligible for a wish that helps restore hope, build strength, and create lasting joy. 💫

A small-world moment with a big reminder: our Make-A-Wish mission connects us across oceans. 💙

During his visit to New Zealand, our Volunteer Outreach Manager Will Phelps had the chance to stop by the Make-A-Wish Auckland office—where a family connection brought our global wish-granting ‘ohana even closer together. Mahalo to the Make-A-Wish Foundation of New Zealand team for the warm welcome and for all you do to bring hope and joy to wish children and families in New Zealand!

It's a small world after all.

Our Volunteer Lead Lisa recently connected that one of our incredible Make-A-Wish Aotearoa volunteers, Dr Kelly Phelps from Whakatāne, is the cousin of Will Phelps, Volunteer Outreach Manager for Make-A-Wish Hawaii

This week, while Will was holidaying in New Zealand, he and Kelly stopped by our Auckland office for a visit, this special visit reminded us that while Make-A-Wish is a global movement, every wish is made possible by local people who care deeply about children in their own communities.

For 40 years, volunteers across Aotearoa have helped us bring hope, strength and joy to critically ill Kiwi kids. And today, one family connection helped make our Make-A-Wish world feel just a little bit smaller.

💙 Thank you to every volunteer who helps make wishes come true.

Wish granted! 💫

Judah is a loving, expressive 9-year-old from Haiku with a nervous system disorder who delights in imaginative play and magical stories. His wish to go to Walt Disney World® was inspired by his favorite characters from Disney and Pixar’s “Inside Out” and a longing to step into the world he had only seen in pictures and movies.

Thanks to generous support from the Goodfellow family, Judah experienced a world of wonder—from themed rides to beloved characters and the magic of Give Kids The World Village. For the first time, he felt truly carefree. 💙

“Judah got to experience constant joy for a week and step outside of his comfort zone to try new experiences,” said Judah’s mom, Stacey. “The wish meant so much to our family because we were able to focus on being together and just having fun. It gave us happiness, hope, and memories we will cherish forever!” ⭐

With your help, more keiki like Judah can experience the transformative power of a wish. Make a gift today at hawaii.wish.org/donate.
