🎬 Lights, camera... awareness!

We had a wonderful time at the ʻŌlelo Community Media studio filming a public service announcement to help raise awareness about Hear 4 Hope and the importance of hearing health.

We're incredibly grateful to ʻŌlelo Community Media for selecting Hear 4 Hope to participate in this initiative and for providing local nonprofits with a platform to share their missions.

A special mahalo to our amazing HOPE members who volunteered their time to be part of the filming. Your willingness to support this effort helps us reach more people, reduce the stigma surrounding hearing loss, and remind others that they are not alone.

"But you can hear me..."

We hear this all the time.

The truth is, hearing loss isn't just about volume. It's about clarity.

Many people with hearing loss can hear that someone is talking—but they can't always make out the words. Background noise, multiple conversations, or poor acoustics can make speech sound muffled or incomplete.

Imagine trying to solve a puzzle with several pieces missing. That's what many conversations feel like.

If someone asks you to repeat yourself, face them when you speak, or try saying it a different way. They're not asking you to speak louder—they're asking for a little more clarity so they can understand.

A little patience can make a world of difference.

Today is Tell the Truth Day.

Here's a truth that many people with hearing loss know all too well:

"I didn't hear what you said."

For many, those six words can be difficult to say. Instead, people nod, smile, or pretend they understood because they're afraid of embarrassment, judgment, or being seen differently.

At Hear 4 Hope, we want to change that.

It's okay to ask someone to repeat themselves.
It's okay to advocate for the accommodations you need.
It's okay to be honest about your hearing loss.

The more we speak openly, the more we reduce stigma and create a world where everyone feels heard—even if they don't hear perfectly.

Many people don't realize that hearing aids they no longer use may still have the power to help someone else hear.

Through Sounds of Hope, donated hearing aids can be refurbished and matched with individuals who may not otherwise have access to hearing technology.

We just wrapped up our presentation at the HLAA Convention, and I’m grateful to be part of such an incredible task force.

Together, we’re sharing ideas, tackling challenges, and working to advance hearing health, accessibility, and support for people with hearing loss. The passion, expertise, and commitment within this group are inspiring, and I’m excited about the impact we can make together.
