Rotary Club of Downtown Honolulu

Rotary Club of Downtown Honolulu The Rotary Club of Downtown Honolulu meets every Friday @ 7:15 a.m. at Keʻelikōlani Middle School. We'd enjoy the opportunity to meet and connect with you!

The Rotary Club of Downtown Honolulu was named Rotary District 5000's "2021-22 Mid-Size Club of The Year." We aspire to be the mightiest group of diverse individuals who consistently make a positive impact in the community through service projects that empower Hawai‘i's youth, as well as support those who impact them. Our club of 30+ members is comprised of business, civic and professional leaders

from Honolulu dedicated to making O‘ahu, Hawai‘i and the world a better place to live. We have a special connection to Ke‘elikōlani Middle School, formerly Central Middle School, and focus much of our time and attention to ensuring the students, faculty and administration there has the resources it needs to thrive. Our club focuses on improving the lives of youth in the Downtown Honolulu area, with a passion and focus on literacy, scholarships, mentoring and community service. We meet every Friday and invite guest speakers from the community to inspire our members, discuss and plan service projects for the year, and get together to socialize and network in fun and engaging ways. It is through those connections that we can work to get things done in our community. If you are interested in learning more about Rotary or joining our club, please reach out to us.

KMS AMAZING SHAKE NATIONAL COMPETITION UPDATE.

We were able to get back with these talented young champions after their trip from Atlanta Georgia. Sharing their experiences and how it felt to be a part of the Amazing Shake National Competition representing KMS and Hawaii.

Kudos to their teachers, mentors, awesome Principle and of course their families! They had great leaders that guided them on this journey. These young individuals worked hard and shined.✨

We here at RCDH are honored to be a part of this memorable event as we continue to support KMS students in the future. Special shout out to for the coordination.

The and are extremely grateful for the incredible support from you all this month to support the students and families at !

In one month, because of your generosity during an unprecedented government shutdown that impacted millions of families and individuals across the country, you helped make an impact here in Hawaii for students and families in need of food by raising over $7000!

Mahalo to the Public for supporting and the countless organizations who helped contribute and local churches for your donations!

, and the are partnering to explore ways of continuing to support both the middle school and the other elementary schools in the downtown area who are most in need of food support in 2025 and into the new year.

Today, members of the Rotary Club of Downtown Honolulu came together at Sam’s Club Keeaumoku to pick up and deliver over $4,000 in food supplies for KMS students and families affected by the recent SNAP benefit pause.

At Keʻelikōlani Middle School, over 60% of students are SNAP recipients, meaning these families are among the hardest hit by this pause in food benefits. Every dollar raised will go 100% toward helping students and families in need of food support.

Mahalo to Wade, Rob, Kathy, and Christine for helping bring the food donated to the school! Together, we’ve raised over $5,000 in just one week, helping bridge the gap for families who need it most.

Because of your generosity, we still have funds available to plan additional food drives if this pause continues. We’re also continuing to collect donations online to sustain these efforts in the weeks ahead.

💛 Every dollar helps us unite for good and support our keiki and community.

💙 Tomorrow (Friday, Nov. 7) the Rotary Club of Downtown Honolulu will host a service project instead of our regular meeting at 7:00 AM at the KMS library to help pack and distribute all the food for KMS families.

If you’re interested in helping, even for an hour or two, please send a message to the group or reach out to a member of the club to join us!

RCDH has worked with KMS for more than 20 years. This is a school where almost 60% of the students are on SNAP despite the fact that most parents work. Many rely on food assistance to make ends meet, and with SNAP expected to pause, these families face greater uncertainty and reduced access to meals at home. SNAP provides an average of $343 per person each month, a vital source of food security for families across Hawaiʻi. When those benefits are interrupted, thousands of households, including many right here in our community, struggle to meet basic food needs. We are organizing an online fundraiser to provide immediate food assistance for KMS students and their ʻohana while the federal shutdown continues. All funds raised will go directly toward groceries and essential household items, purchased and distributed in collaboration with KMS staff and community partners. Rotary believes that when one part of our community struggles, we come together to lift each other up. Every contribution, large or small, helps feed a child, support a family, and strengthen our community. Through this fundraiser, we aim to ensure that every KMS student and family feels supported, nourished, and valued during this challenging time.
