🏅 𝗠𝗲𝗺𝗯𝗲𝗿 𝗛𝗶𝗴𝗵𝗹𝗶𝗴𝗵𝘁: 𝗛𝗲𝗮𝗹𝘁𝗵𝘆 𝗠𝗼𝘁𝗵𝗲𝗿𝘀 𝗛𝗲𝗮𝗹𝘁𝗵𝘆 𝗕𝗮𝗯𝗶𝗲𝘀
Healthy Mothers Healthy Babies Coalition of Hawai‘i (HMHB) has been committed to health equity in Hawaiʻi for over thirty years. The organization meets families where they are and steps in quickly during times of need. From launching vaccine and testing clinics during the pandemic to providing on-the-ground support after the Maui wildfires and recent flooding, HMHB continues to deliver mobile health care, mental health services, and peer support to individuals and communities most in need statewide.

HMHB’s programs focus on pregnant and parenting families while also providing access to healthcare for people at all stages of life. Each year, more than 4,000 individuals benefit from HMHB’s services through clinics, mobile units, and 24/7 telehealth. Recently, HMHB began administering the Parent Line, a trusted, go-to resource for parenting support, guidance, and connection. HMHB is hosting a FREE Safe Sleep Hawaiʻi Summit at Windward Community College on June 5th for individuals and organizations serving communities across Hawaiʻi. Attendees will hear lived experiences, connect with partners, and learn practical strategies to support safe sleep. Limited scholarships for neighbor island travel are available. 🏅 𝗠𝗮𝗿𝗰𝗵 𝗠𝗲𝗺𝗯𝗲𝗿 𝗛𝗶𝗴𝗵𝗹𝗶𝗴𝗵𝘁: ‘Āina Hoʻōla Initiative-Restoring Wetlands, Revitalizing Connections
Āina Hoʻōla Initiative is a grassroots nonprofit based in Hilo, dedicated to restoring native wetlands and loko iʻa. Guided by Hawaiian values, their work focuses on healing ʻāina while strengthening connections between people, place, and culture.

At the Lokowaka Pond complex, restoration has already led to the return of native waterbirds, demonstrating the power of community-based stewardship. Volunteers, students, and visitors work side by side to remove invasive species, reestablish native plants, and create thriving habitat for endangered species.

They host Community Volunteer Days—typically on Saturdays—as well as smaller weekday opportunities. These hands-on experiences invite people of all ages to learn, contribute, and build meaningful relationships with the land.

The 2026 Hawaiʻi Quality of Life Survey is 𝗡𝗢𝗪 𝗟𝗜𝗩𝗘.
This anonymous, 10-20 minute survey is open to all Hawaiʻi residents 18+. The Hawaiʻi Office of WeIlness and Resilience and University of Hawaiʻi researchers are again partnering to better understand the conditions that shape Hawaiʻi residentsʻ quality of life. In 2024, over 8,000 residents shared their experiences on health, housing, work, and more in the first survey. Building on that success, this next effort will help track progress over time, identify emerging concerns, and ensure decisions are grounded in the lived realities of people across the islands.
