The spotlight 💡💡burns 🔥🔥little brighter tonight.

The inclusion, acceptance, and empathy shown by the Trojans is deeply appreciated—but this moment also reflects something bigger: a generation of high school athletes who have shared their love of sports with nqd and our special needs community.

We’ve been fortunate to see student-athletes from all across the State of Hawaii from schools: Punahou, ʻIolani, Kamehameha,Mid-Pacific Institute, Pac-5, Maryknoll, Hawaii Baptist Academy, Damien Memorial, Mililani High, Pearl City High, Moanalua High,, Kaiser High, Leilehua High, Aiea High, Campbell High, Waipahu High, Kapolei High, Maui High, and Baldwin High step up and support nqd and this community—and they’ve been doing it for years.

That commitment builds more than championship moments—it builds hope for a stronger, more compassionate community, where inclusion is not just encouraged, but lived every day.

We think of you often… especially when the KC Chiefs beat the 49ers… or when I can’t comprehend how you can be a Warriors fan and not a 49ers fan… but it reminds me that you don’t necessarily have to be a fan of a team, just a fan of people and Aidan is always a fan of people.

The highlight of their internship was a day trip to Maui to assist the Maui Stingers, and coordinating Earth day at the town center of mililani.

A beautiful day for our annual Easter egg scramble. Over the past 12 years we have seen this scramble grow and grow. Today we had over 2500 hundred eggs scattered across our soccer fields. It gave our players lots to do….

It’s amazing how patient these kids can be waiting for the scramble to begin😂😂😂. Or how many played soccer today because parents said no soccer, no scramble.

The scramble is such an important part of our soccer and basketball programs. Years ago a family came up to me to “thank” me for putting it together 🤷🏻‍♂️. I said, no you folks brought the eggs.

She said, no you don’t understand.. 😳.. she said my child is 6 years old and has never opened up a present to reveal what’s inside. Christmas, Birthdays he will just stare at the gift… but today, amongst his teammates for the first time in his life he opened the egg to reveal a prize 😭😭😭.

Although time has passed, we still remember these subtle moments and use it to ensure that this community has an Easter egg scramble to remember.

11, 12… maybe 13 years ago.
The seasons and time blur together now.

But I remember exactly where it started — on a soccer field.

No spotlight. No media. No blueprint. Just belief.

What began as a simple opportunity became something far bigger than we ever imagined. For individuals and families who were once told they might “never have the chance,” we watched doors open. We watched confidence grow. We watched community form.

Opportunities that didn’t exist suddenly became standards.
“Maybe someday” became “yes.” Organizations, families, businesses have all followed our lead.

People sometimes thank us for what was built. They call it impact.

But the truth is — how lucky are we?

Lucky enough to kick off another full year of sports… Soccer v. 2026… ready or not, here we go!

nqd has been providing opportunities to Hawaiis special needs community for the past 12 years… One of our first participants is now in high school 😢 because time does not wait for anyone..
In a creative media class, this youngster drew a nqd logo. We smile inside because although not an active participant anymore, nqd still resonates with him. If you look closely, each letter represents a sport they participated in… n - ⚾️q -🏀 and d - 🥋.

We always hope that when families look back, whether they are participates or volunteers, they smile and say, that was special. Because there is no place like

Include Us.
A statement that beams through so many of the special needs families we meet ✨

From the moment we stepped out for Breakfast with Santa at , the entire weekend was filled with “include us” moments. The event wasn’t just inclusive—it was intentionally thoughtful. They reserved two tables in a quiet back corner for our families, giving our kids space to participate, move freely, and visit Santa when they were ready 🎅💛

Then, Way deep down south (76 south to be exact), nqd took over an entire train 🚂.. A whole train full of our friends and families. We even had special guests from and who flew in just to ride with us. From New Jersey to Hawaii, who would have ever thought?

We wrapped up the weekend at the —great competition for even greater causes. As a beneficiary, we handed out “Firebirds” hats to the championship teams… and the kids immediately swapped their own team hats for ours 🧢🔥
Maybe they understood that their play supports kids who face huge challenges just to play the game they love…
Or maybe our hats were just a little cleaner 😉
Either way, seeing the Firebirds in their championship photos had us 🥹

Maybe NQD has pioneered the change we see in the fabric of special needs community with inclusive programming and events
But then again— wasn’t this the world we all dreamt of? 🌈💙

At nqd we are always looking for that one spark, that one friend that one star that will open up an entire galaxy. For this young man, (we still view him as a kid), we may have just found that spark.

At NQD, we take our special needs community through a wide variety of sports programs and experiences. From custom jerseys to personalized sports figures, our mission is to make every athlete feel like a superstar 💫

But what we’ve found along the way is something even more special — the relationships built between our athletes and their super-duper athletic friends. Those connections, that joy, and that teamwork are what truly make NQD shine.
