Nearly 35 years ago, on June 15, 1991, at Farrington High School Auditorium, a young woman named Lorianne “Ria” Manayan Messina become part of Miss O‘ahu Filipina history. ✨

At just 20 years old and a Communications student at the University of Hawai‘i, she rose above a field of six remarkable contestants to earn the title, succeeding 1990 titleholder Kathleen Duhaylongsod.

Miss O‘ahu Filipina 2026 is almost here—and we’re ready to welcome the next woman into a sisterhood built on culture, service, and empowerment. 🇵🇭 Link to Application in bio.

We are deeply saddened by the recent flooding across our state, especially here in our island home. During this difficult time, we extend our hearts and prayers are to the families and communities most affected.

Here are ways you can support, through item/monetary donations and volunteering of time and physical power:

American Red Cross: Seeking volunteers
Hawaiʻi Food Bank: Serving families
LāHui Foundation: Organizing cleanup crews and coordinating distribution of donated items
Aloha United Way: Help call and text line
Hawaiʻi Community Foundation: Relief through the Stronger Hawaiʻi Fund
Hawaiʻi Farmers Union United: Aid through the Hawaiʻi Flood Response Fund
The Salvation Army: Statewide disaster relief efforts and across the state

Every act of support makes a meaningful difference in our community.

Honoring the women who lead with heart and purpose in the Oʻahu Filipino Community Council (OFCC).

This International Women’s Day 2026, we celebrate the empowered women in our community who continue to step up, lead, support, and uplift those around them. Whether at the forefront of leadership or working behind the scenes as allies and supporters, your dedication strengthens the Filipino community on Oʻahu.

There is always more work ahead, but with women helping shape the path forward, the future of our community shines even brighter. 💛

Mahalo to the JustServe West Honolulu Volunteer Fair for recognizing the Oʻahu Filipino Community Council (OFCC) on March 7, 2026, as an organization that builds community unity through service and volunteerism. 🤝

Thank you to Honolulu City Councilmember Radiant Cordero (District 7) and the City & County of Honolulu for this recognition!

For nearly 70 years, OFCC has helped strengthen our community through volunteerism, civic engagement, cultural preservation, youth leadership, scholarships, and programs such as the Miss Oʻahu Filipina Scholarship Pageant, OFCC Golf Foundation Scholarship, Adopt-A-Highway on Kalihi Street, and Filipino-American History Month celebrations.

When we serve together, we uplift one another. That’s how strong communities are built. ✨

Lori Butay truly had the judges’ attention the night she was crowned Miss Oʻahu Filipina, and she didn’t stop there!

She went on to capture the Miss Hawaiʻi Filipina title on July 27, 1996 on home soil.

Her victory marked the third state title in a row for Oʻahu, following queens Amy Centeno (1994) and Pamela Domingo (1995). And here’s a fun bonus fact: Lori was also crowned Miss Teen Hawaiʻi Filipina the year prior. Talk about a grand slam moment! ✨

Who’s ready to win next? 👑

Applications for the next Miss Oʻahu Filipina close March 15. Step into the spotlight, represent for our island community, and become part of the Legacy of Queens.

In its 14th year, the Miss Oʻahu Filipina crowned its 1986 queen, Joyce Mina, at Hilton Hawaiian Village.

As the daughter of former State Representative Ted Mina and Mrs. Gertrude Mina of Kalihi, carried the title with pride and became part of the growing legacy of Filipina leadership on Oʻahu.

Today, more than fifty years since the pageant’s founding in 1973, we celebrate the generations of queens who have shaped this story — like Joyce as she celebrates 40 Years!

What will the next 50 years of Miss Oʻahu Filipina look like?

✨ Applications close in 10 days. The question is… who will be the next queen in our legacy?

Every woman carries a story worth telling. ✨

Miss Oʻahu Filipina proudly celebrates 2026 Women’s History Month, with this year’s theme: “Leading the Change: Women Shaping a Sustainable Future.”

For me, that story begins in the soil, studying soil health and sustainability, and advocating for global issues like food security and access to nutritious meals. But my story is only one of many.

Across Oʻahu and throughout Hawaiʻi, my sister queens are creating impact in their own communities. They are building sisterhood, launching initiatives, and empowering others to explore ideas, take action, and uplift the causes that matter to them most.

This is the true power of leadership, and for women across the world, it will only continue to grow. 🌺

Applications for the next Miss Oʻahu Filipina are open now through March 15. Orientation will follow shortly after.

So the question is…
Who will rise, share her story, and lead the change?

On Friday, February 13, the Oʻahu Filipino Community Council (OFCC), alongside several unit organization members, participated in the West Side Transitions Fair at Kamaile School’s Cafeteria.

This event was designed to help uplift students needing assistance along the Waiʻanae Coast as they move toward post-secondary education independence.

The fair brought together service providers, employment support networks, training pathways, and community organizations in one place to create accessible opportunities for students and their families to explore what’s next.

OFCC participated in sharing information about our organization, while also distributing essential toiletry items (including body wipes and dental care products) to support students in tangible ways, and providing all of the evening’s prizes.

Mahalo to co-organizer and Program Specialist Kristen Macadamia (OFCC Organizations: NAKEM Hawaii & Timpuyog at UHM) for connecting us with this meaningful opportunity to participate. 💛
