Hawaii Geographic Information Coordinating Council (HIGICC) HIGICC is a private non-profit 501(c)3 consisting of members of Hawai'i's geospatial community.

Join HIGICC
HIGICC provides opportunities to network with other GIS professionals in Hawaii and the Pacific. We host events throughout the year that encourage technology and information exchange, including vendor presentations, data acquisition/collection/holdings workshops, luncheon series, newsletters, social events, and a biennial conference. Members can also access email list serve to post and

receive information important to our community. Membership runs with the fiscal year, beginning in July and ending in June. Organizational members can list up to five employees, although only one designee retains voting rights for policy matters and elections. The current annual membership rates are:

Individual - $50
Organizational - $250
Student - $25

The on-line registration will get you into our database and process your payment. When we receive your completed HIGICC membership application form, we will send you an acknowledgment informing you of your membership status. (If you need to pay by check or purchase order, please fill out our membership application form and include that with your payment.

The Mark Lierman Memorial Scholarship is available for the 2026/2027 school year for qualified applicants pursuing or continuing education with a GIS component in the State of Hawai'i.
Deadline to submit is June 20, 2026 at 11:59 pm.

Please see attached a funded MS Graduate Assistant position in the McGuigan lab at the Department of Natural Resources and Environmental Management at CTAHR, UHM to start August 24, 2026. This position will support research on climate, pest dynamics, agroforestry, and the nutritional and metabolomic characteristics of culturally and economically important food tree crops in Hawaiʻi and the U.S.-Affiliated Pacific Islands.

The student will have the opportunity to work across a collaborative network that may include the USDA Forest Service, USDA Agricultural Research Service, The Periodic Table of Food Initiative (PTFI), Pacific Drought Knowledge Exchange, and partners across Pacific Island agroecosystems.

The assistantship is 0.5 FTE, 11-months, beginning August 24, 2026 or earlier, and is open to incoming, accepted, and prospective MS students.

Applications are due July 1, 2026. Please share widely with students or colleagues who may be interested in climate, agroforestry, entomology, food systems, ecological resilience, GIS/modeling, metabolomics, nutrition, or Pacific Island agroecosystems.

HLSA-HIGICC Geospatial Expo on Hawaii Island is here! It will be held Friday, May 29, 2026 at the University of Hawaii at Hilo on Hawaii Island. Lunch is included during the Expo, and raffle prizes will be included during the Pau Hana.
