The Miss Chinatown Hawaii pageant helps to develop young women of Chinese descent as they embark on a discovery of their ancestral past and personal growth. Each year, the Miss Chinatown Hawaii pageant awards more than $35,000 in scholarship funds. Contestants receive training in Chinese history and culture, Chinese cooking, make-up, beauty and poise, interviewing and personal development. Through the help of numerous volunteers and experts in their fields, contestants are challenged mentally, physically, and spiritually during the months prior to the pageant. In addition, participants develop valuable friendships that often last a lifetime. The phases of competition for the Miss Chinatown Hawaii pageant are as follows:

* Judges’ Interview (held prior to the pageant)
* On-stage Question & Answer
* Poise
* Swimsuit/Physical Fitness

The Miss Chinatown Hawaii and Miss Hawaii Chinese Queens represent the Chinese community in Hawaii, and specifically Chinatown in Honolulu. Founded by the Honolulu Chinese Jaycees in 1977, the Miss Chinatown Hawaii Pageant was designed as a two-part program -- first, to seek young women of Chinese ancestry to represent the Chinese Community in Hawaii and secondly, to prepare the Miss Chinatown Hawaii Queen to compete for the National Title as the “Miss Chinatown USA” With more awareness and recognition than ever before, the pageant continues to grow as Hawaii’s premiere pageant for women of Chinese descent.

2026 MCH Court send off for Noelle and Yuting as they move on to new endeavors!! In lieu of a 2027 pageant, our remaining 5 courtmembers will roll into 2027 as our representives in the year of the Fire Goat! We have been fortunate to have 7 very talented role models for our Chinese community and beyond. We want to continue to provide opportunities for them In the year ahead!

Today we join Jessica in mourning the passing of her sister and our PrincessTiffane. Our hearts are with her family, friends, and everyone who had the privilege of knowing her.

Tiffane was kind, full of grace, always helpful, and loved to bake. She was an amazing wife, mother, daughter, sister, and friend to everyone.

We extend our deepest condolences to her family and friends. May they find comfort in the many memories, and may her beautiful spirit continue to inspire all who knew her. Rest in peace and love. Till we see you again, Tiff....

Waipahu's Janelle Liang brought home a national title for Hawaii, being crowned Miss Chinatown USA after representing the islands in San Francisco.
