Re-use Hawaii

Re-use Hawaii We are a nonprofit (Re)cultivating the circular economy in Hawai'i by keeping material waste out of the landfill and turning it into community treasure.

Homeowners can receive a tax-deductible donation for salvaged materials. Contractors and architects can offer clients an environmentally sustainable option for demolition and remodel projects and can save money on disposal costs by salvaging material instead of dumping it.

The 3Rs aren’t just something we learn—they’re something we can live every day.
Choosing secondhand furniture is a simple way to put the 3Rs into practice:
⬇️ Reduce demand for new resources.
🔄 Reuse quality pieces that still have years of life left.
♻️ Recycle by keeping materials in circulation and out of the landfill.
From statement pieces to everyday essentials, every item has a story—and a chance for a second life.
Which piece would you bring home?

Reduce. Reuse. Recycle. ♻️
The 3Rs are simple actions that help conserve resources, reduce waste, and protect our environment.
⬇️ Reduce what we consume.
🔄 Reuse what still has value.
♻️ Recycle what can be processed into something new.
At Re-use Hawaiʻi, we see the impact of the 3Rs every day—from reusable shopping bags and refillable water bottles to reclaimed furniture, building materials, and responsible recycling programs.
Together, these everyday choices help create a more sustainable Hawaiʻi for future generations.
Which of the 3Rs do you practice most often?

🌺 Protecting Hawaiʻi starts with how we care for one another and the ʻāina.
This Kamehameha Day, we reflect on the values of stewardship, responsibility, and community that continue to guide Hawaiʻi today. Every item reused, every tool shared, and every material diverted from the landfill is a small act of mālama ʻāina that adds up to a stronger future for our islands.
Together, we can honor the legacy of those who came before us by caring for the places and people around us. 🤙

Every material has a story.
The rafters above our meeting room once came from the home of Abigail Kinoiki Kekaulike Kawānanakoa, while the glass doors that surround the space were salvaged and thoughtfully repurposed from materials that passed through our warehouse.
Together, they remind us that reuse is about more than saving materials from the landfill. It’s about preserving stories, honoring legacy, and finding new purpose in what already exists.
Every piece has a past. Every piece has a future. ♻️

Every piece has a story. Every project shows what’s possible when we choose reuse over waste. ♻️

🌺 Celebrating Kamehameha 🌺
This week, we honor the legacy of King Kamehameha I, whose vision helped unite the Hawaiian Islands and whose leadership continues to inspire generations today.
The Kānāwai Māmalahoe, or Law of the Splintered Paddle, reminds us that true leadership is rooted in compassion, protection, and care for others. These values are reflected in stewardship—the responsibility to care for our people, our ʻāina, and the resources entrusted to us.
When we practice stewardship, we create the foundation for sustainability, ensuring that future generations can thrive and continue to benefit from the resources we preserve today.
As we celebrate Kamehameha Day, may we remember that the choices we make today help shape the Hawaiʻi of tomorrow.
