Dukes on Waikiki Beach !!!

Duke was a Hawaiian hero and one of the world's greatest watermen.

Growing up in Waikiki he became a master of swimming, surfing, and outrigger canoe paddling. But even more than that, in all his doings, he taught us to be an ambassador of aloha.

We continue to honor his legacy of aloha and his love for the ocean at Duke’s Waikiki today.

Surfboard water polo is one of the water sports that Duke enjoyed with his brothers and friends. The event will be on Sunday August 28 from 10am at the Ewa side of Walls.

WHY A LICENSE PLATE?

- To perpetuate the legacy Duke Kahanamoku, Hawaii's legendary waterman, Olympian, and Ambassador of Aloha.

- To celebrate Hawaii as the birthplace of surfing and Duke as the father of modern surfing.

- To raise funds for water safety and swimming programs in Hawaii, with minimal costs to the local government. Our state has one of the highest drowning rates in the nation, yet we have the potential to raise the world's best swimmers.

The Outrigger Duke Kahanamoku Foundation would administer the funds to local water safety and swim programs, using its existing grantmaking framework.
