For many autistic nonspeakers, community events aren’t just about having fun, they’re about belonging.

When events are designed to be sensory-friendly and truly inclusive, they create spaces where autistic individuals can participate without the pressure to mask who they are. Adjustments like quieter environments, flexible accommodations, and communication supports make it possible for more people to connect, learn, and enjoy meaningful experiences alongside their families and community.

Inclusion isn’t about creating separate space, it’s about creating welcoming ones. Every person deserves the opportunity to make memories, build friendships, and be celebrated exactly as they are.

We are so grateful for organizations like PAPA Hawai’i who support our community in such a beautiful way.

Together, we can build communities where everyone is invited, everyone is supported, and everyone belongs. 💙

Our family’s experience..

We all had such a wonderful time at How to Train Your Dragon Jr. The cast did an amazing job, and it was such a welcoming, inclusive experience for our family. Maverick was engaged throughout the performance and enjoyed watching the characters, music, and action come to life. Opportunities like this mean so much because every family deserves to feel included and enjoy the arts together. Thank you for making that possible!

🌺 Big news for Kauai families! 🌺

The Hawaii Autism Foundation is thrilled to introduce Julie Spicer MS, CCC-SLP, DIR-Advanced.

She is Kauai's FIRST ever Spelling to Communicate (S2C) practitioner!

Julie is now accepting new clients. The Hawaii Autism Foundation is offering a scholarship opportunity for 4 families to begin Spelling to Communicate — a life-changing method that gives nonspeaking autistic individuals the ability to share their thoughts, feelings, and ideas through spelling to communicate.

The scholarship is for people with autism who are non speakers or unreliable speakers and their family member or guardian who will coordinate and attend the sessions. Applicants should be motivated and understand that a family member or aid will need to learn how to be an ongoing S2C communication and regulation partner (CRP). S2C is like learning to play the piano which takes time, practice and commitment from both the student and the CRP.Please watch 'Spellers' the movie on Youtube first.

If you are a Kauai family with a nonspeaking and or unreliable speaking autistic or downs loved one, this opportunity was made for you.

This scholarship is for our Hawai'i families who live in Hawai'i and make under $120,000 per year. The scholarship includes 5 sessions with a S2C Registered Practitioner (RP) in Hawai'i.

Your loved one has so much to say. Julie is here to help them communicate.
