Director of Internal Audit
Job summary:
The Director of Internal Audit is accountable for assisting the KS Board of Trustees in the effective ex*****on of their fiduciary responsibilities through independent, objective assurance and consulting activities designed to add value and to improve the effectiveness and efficiency of KS’ risk management, internal control and governance processes. The Director of Internal Audit will develop and execute a risk-based annual internal audit plan and enable organizational ex*****on with urgency to create a high-performance culture based on exceptionally productive, skilled, team-oriented staff who will deliver on unit objectives that help improve the capability and well-being of people of Hawaiian ancestry.
The Director of Internal Audit will ensure the timely accomplishment of the annual internal audit plan and monitor progress based on the Institute of Internal Auditors International Professional Practices Framework (IPPF) and Code of Ethics. The Director of Internal Audit will lead the performance of assurance and consultative projects to examine and/or to improve the effectiveness and efficiency of the Board of Trustees and all levels of management in their stewardship of KS resources and their compliance with policies and procedures, government laws, regulations and agreements.
Summary of position requirements:
•Bachelor’s degree in accounting, finance, business administration or closely related field.
•Seven years of professional audit experience in progressively responsible leadership positions and three years in evaluating, instituting, and/or establishing internal controls for safeguarding organizational resources and funds.
•Demonstrated leadership skills in administrative planning, operations, strategic planning, process improvement and change management.
•A proven track record of successful ex*****on in a mission-driven, complex organization focused on both quantitative and qualitative outcomes and measures.
