The Rotary Club of Pearl Harbor meets every other Monday at noon

The Rotary Club of Pearl Harbor is one of 53 Rotary clubs in the State of Hawaii and part of District 5000 see: http://www.rotaryd5000.org/

Rotary is a worldwide organization of business, professional and community leaders that provides humanitarian service, encourages high ethical standards in all vocations, and helps build goodwi

ll and peace in the world. The Rotary Club of Pearl Harbor celebrates 72 years of service on June 14, 2022! Our primary focus is the Pearl Harbor community as well as service projects through Rotary International, which reaches around the globe. Our shared passion for service helps us accomplish the remarkable. What makes us different? Our distinct point of view and approach gives us unique advantages:

We see differently: Our multidisciplinary perspective helps us see challenges in unique ways. We think differently: We apply leadership and expertise to social issues—and find unique solutions. We act responsibly: Our passion and perseverance create lasting change. We make a difference at home and around the world: Our members can be found in your community and across the globe. How do we work? Our impact starts with our members—people who work tirelessly with their clubs to solve some of our communities' toughest challenges. Their efforts are supported by Rotary International, our member association, and The Rotary Foundation, which turns generous donations into grants that fund the work of our members and partners around the world. Rotary is led by our members—responsible leaders who help to carry forward our organization's mission and values in their elected roles. See how we maximize our impact
What causes do we support? We have identified specific causes to target to maximize our local and global impact. At the same time, we understand that each community has its own unique needs and concerns. Through our network of resources and partners, we help clubs focus their service efforts in promoting peace, fighting disease, providing clean water, saving mothers and children, supporting education, and growing local economies. Today’s outstanding program was on the most decorated United States Army unit in history, the 100th Infantry Battalion. Any one of the speakers would have been excellent by themselves. We had the privilege of hearing from three people who are closely associated with the unit:

Kathi Hayashi, President, 100th Infantry Battalion Veterans organization, Daughter of, Tokuichi Hayashi
Janice Yokoyama Trubitt, niece of Private First-Class Sadao S. Munemori
Film-maker Steve Sue

100th Infantry Battalion Veterans organization, established in December 1945 under the name "Club 100," by the World War II veterans of the 100th Infantry Battalion. The purpose of Club 100 is to perpetuate the identity and legacy of the 100th Infantry Battalion.

Janice Yokoyama Trubitt is a niece of Private First-Class Sadao S. Munemori the only Japanese American to be awarded the Medal of Honor during or immediately after World War II, after he sacrificed his life to save those of his fellow soldiers at Seravezza, Italy. Munemori was in Company A, 100th Infantry Battalion, 442nd Regimental Combat Team.

Film-maker Steve Sue did not serve in the military and had to be convinced to make a movie about the 100th Infantry Battalion. He made it in a year and the opening was on Memorial Day 2026
