1️⃣ Pier 38 is home to the Honolulu Fish Auction—the heartbeat of the Commercial Fishing Village and the only fresh tuna auction of its kind in the United States. The auction has been around in one form or another for 100 years and has been managed by the United Fishing Agency since 1952.

2️⃣ In addition to the auction, the Fishing Village brings together fishing vessels, fishing supply and support companies, seafood wholesalers, and restaurants all in one convenient location. Completion of the Fishing Village in 2004 demonstrates a long-term commitment in Hawaii to sustaining our fisheries, local food production, and culture.

3️⃣ Hungry? The Village is also home to several popular waterfront restaurants and fish markets. and are two newer additions well worth the visit. The Honolulu Fish Auction is the anchor of the Fishing Village at Pier 38. It’s a fresh fish display auction operated by the United Fishing Agency since 1952. It evolved from Japan’s tuna auction system, first introduced to Hawaii in the early 1900’s. Today’s auction is a modern, state-of-the-art facility and showcase for the industry and is the only fresh tuna auction of its kind in the United States!
