Do you want to be a part of the largest Scouting event in the World? Then mark your calendars for October 16-18th, 2020!

JOTA-JOTI or Jamboree-on-the-Air 📻 and Jamboree-on-the-Internet 💻 is an annual international Scouting event sponsored by the World Organization of the Scout Movement. Each year, during the third weekend in October, Scouts from around the world gather online to learn about other cultures and the activities in which other Scouts participate. They communicate with each other using Internet-enabled devices such as computers, laptops, tablets, and mobile phones. JOTA uses amateur radio to link Scouts and hams around the world, around the nation, and in your own community. Last year, JOTA-JOTI had over 1.5 million Scouts and leaders participate in more than 160 countries!

My name is John-Aaron Bozanic. I am a Venturer in Crew 774 in Orange County Council, California. I am offering your Scouts a chance to gain service hours and earn their Messenger of Peace award during these Covid-19 times with an approved national service project.

I am currently working on my Summit and my Silver Hornaday Project. The goal of the project is to pick up 1,000,000 pieces of trash by the end of August. It was designed with the Covid-19 restrictions in mind, and can be done on a family, den, pack, patrol, troop, or community level as permitted in your region. I am looking for volunteers to help me reach my goal. To date we have picked up 279,738 pieces of trash, and I would like to thank everyone who has contributed.

By participating in this project, Scouts and adult Scouters can earn the “Messengers of Peace” award. My project has been promoted on the BSA National Commissioner pages, and listed by BSA International as qualifying for this award. It just takes a minimum of two hours of effort and recording your results at: https://docs.google.com/forms/d/e/1FAIpQLSe5IjKIT6H_GSXiyeajEQkWdIeG-NxFhfmH8oqD9YpXQlP0MQ/viewform

If your unit leader allows you to, you can also use this project for advancement, including the conservation service required for Life. Our council Risk Management Committee suggests following the safety guidelines in the flyer below. If you have any questions or would like to share pictures please feel free to contact me at [email protected] . Please chip in and help, and encourage your friends, family, and other Scout units to participate as well. Feel free to re-post this anyplace you wish. Thank you!
