After-School All-Stars Hawaii ASAS Hawaii provides free, comprehensive after-school programs for middle and intermediate students from underserved communities in Hawaii.

Having a place to go after school keeps children safe and helps them succeed in school and life. After-School All-Stars launched a Hawaii chapter in 2009. There is a need for structured after-school programming in public middle schools in the state of Hawaii. We are thrilled to bring our comprehensive after-school programs to those schools whose students can benefit from high-quality and fun programming including academics, enrichment and health/fitness activities.

💙 Small actions can make a meaningful difference.

Through Life, Service, Action, All-Stars are learning that they can make a difference in their communities. Students recently worked together to clean up their school campus, filling bags with trash and helping create a cleaner, more welcoming space for everyone. 🌺

Acts of service help students practice teamwork, responsibility and leadership while seeing the impact they can make in their community. ⭐

🌺 Learning starts with more than a classroom.

Through Hawaiian culture, values and traditions, All-Stars have opportunities to reflect on how they can show respect, work together and contribute to their communities.

This week, students explored lōkahi, connecting the value to three words that represent their growth: Learn, Lead and Achieve. ⭐

These experiences help students connect what they learn to how they live, lead and grow together. 💙

🎨 Create. Explore. Express.

After school gives All-Stars the opportunity to explore their creativity and discover new interests through art.

In painting, students can experiment with colors, express their ideas, and bring their imagination to life on the canvas. Activities like this, help students develop confidence while discovering what they can create. 💙⭐

📚 Learning looks different for every All-Star.

Whether students are solving a problem in STEAM, practicing their shot on the court, creating a work of art, or tackling homework, after-school time gives them a place to focus, ask questions, and continue learning.

Sometimes progress starts with simply having a place to begin. 💙⭐

🏀 Big dreams start with big opportunities.

A huge mahalo to UH Mānoa Rainbow Wahine Basketball Head Coach Khalilah Mitchell and her team for hosting an inspiring basketball clinic for After-School All-Stars.
Students had the opportunity to learn, practice and connect with collegiate athletes who serve as positive role models on and off the court. 💙🏀

We are also grateful to the Harris United Methodist Church volunteers who organized the event, and prepared and provided a meal for our students, helping fuel them after an evening of activity and learning.

And mahalo to the Foundation for providing brand-new backpacks and school supplies to help students start the school year prepared for success. 🎒⭐

It takes a community to create meaningful opportunities for students. We are grateful to each of these partners for showing up for our All-Stars. 🌺
