If anyone is interested and available, some volunteer organizations are teaming up to do a cleanup at the Old Stadium Park as part of Volunteer Week. Remember the Old Stadium. Many exciting sports events were held there, Pacific Coast League Islander Baseball Games, Hula Bowl Football with OJ Simpson and other stars, Boy Scout Makahiki, ILH baseball and football, stock car racing and much, much, more. I was fortunate enough to play in the Old Honolulu Stadium during the ILH Baseball tournament in 1968. Anyway, see below if interested. Unfortunately, it's on a week day in the afternoon, 3-5 pm, but looks like they have some socializing going on afterwards at P+J.

The Optimist Club of Hawaii (OCH) has been volunteering on a project at the Mighty Mo since the 1990’s. Every year OCH does an annual project on the U.S.S Missouri and this year was no different. Well, it was different in that there were 35 volunteers. This year bookmarks were crafted from the actual teakwood decks of the Missouri. Lastly, Keven, as always, gave his unique guided tour while sharing the rich history of the Mighty Battleship Missouri and the ending of World War II. This year the McKinley High School varsity baseball team and the UH ROTC group joined the Optimist Club on the Mighty Mo project. Much thanks to both groups for the extra help.

We will be needing two team names for our upcoming bowlathon for Big Brothers Big Sisters of Honolulu, set for Saturday, September 17th; 600pm; at Aiea Bowl.
This year's theme is "Disco", but it doesn't have to be part of our team names.
