Ronald McDonald House Hawaii provides a home-away-from-home for critically ill children and their families. 🏡🌈

RMHC-HI has two Houses, offering a home-away-from-home for families with seriously ill children getting medical treatment nearby. Many families fly to Oahu for treatments not available where they live. For many, an ocean literally separates them from their child’s desperately needed attention. This includes Hawaii’s Neighbor Islands, and other Pacific locales such as Guam, Saipan, Samoa and the F

ederated States of Micronesia. Lengths of stay vary widely at the overnight facilities depending on diagnosis but generally range from several days to several months. The overnight facilities strive to foster emotional, spiritual, and mental support to all who live within.

What a special visit to Ronald McDonald House Hawaii!
We were honored to welcome Cathi and Irving Chun, two of our founding Board members, back to our Houses. Cathi also holds a very special place in our history as employee #2 and one of our earliest House Managers.
It was wonderful hearing Cathi and Irving share memories from those early days and reflecting on just how far our organization has come.
They were excited to see the tremendous progress we have made over the past two-plus years—from serving more families and expanding our programs to preparing for the major renovations that will soon transform both of our Houses.
Our future is built on the foundation created by people like Cathi and Irving. We are grateful for their vision, leadership, and commitment to our families—and proud to continue building on the legacy they helped begin.

She came to Hawaii from Guam for medical care, not knowing how long she would be away from home or where her family would stay.
