This week marks the start of our 2026 Summer in Hawaiʻi program! Over the next couple of months, our alumni will step into internships, build real-world experience, deepen their leadership, and explore what it means to create a future for Hawaiʻi. Through hands-on opportunities and CTL field trips, they’ll grow not only as professionals, but as leaders rooted in purpose and place.

We can’t wait to share their journeys with you. Stay tuned for an inside look at the growth and impact of this incredible group of young leaders this summer.

Meet David! Because of First Hawaiian Bank's dedication to our Fellows program, 17 remarkable students like David are being equipped to lead Hawai‘i into the future. CTL Fellows is our advanced leadership program for select seniors from both public and private schools. Fellows have the opportunity to learn from C-suite community leaders and give back to Hawai'i through work on projects that have an island-wide impact.🌺

"Hawai'i is one of a kind because of the people that live across these islands. I hope that our home can stay home for all of us, while at the same time being the birthplace of positive change and innovations that currently only come from other areas of the world."

This year, through our “Who Are the 1000” series with Hawai‘i Public Schools, we had the privilege of highlighting CTL students from across all 6 islands, each with their own story, gifts, and vision for Hawai‘i’s future.

From every island, every zip code, and every community, these young leaders reminded us that leadership in Hawai‘i is not one-size-fits-all. It is shaped by the communities that raise us, the people who believe in us, and the kuleana we carry for our home.

At CTL, we believe Hawai‘i’s future should be led by people who are deeply rooted here and committed to serving the places they call home. This series was a celebration of the diversity, brilliance, and heart of our students across Hawai‘i.

And that’s a wrap on our Year-End Showcases! This year, we reached an incredible milestone of serving 1,000+ students across 6 islands. Over the past few weeks, we’ve had the honor of celebrating the leadership journeys, growth, and impact of these young leaders. We are so proud of each and every one of you. Great job, students!

"I love Jesus, my family, traveling, theater, music and art. When we have free time, my family and I also enjoy playing pickleball, going to the beach and camping. I feel so blessed to call Hawaii my home and I’m so grateful for the Lord’s favor and grace He’s shown in my life.

The kind of future I want for Hawaii is one where people love, care and respect each other and have a strong sense of community and responsibility. I want Hawaii to continue to be a diverse place where different people, cultures, languages and foods mix to make Hawaii so unique. Some of my hopes for Hawaii's future is that we stand up for righteousness, protect and value life, no matter how small, lower the amount of children in foster care systems, make housing more affordable and care for our environment."

Meet Alan & Jonah, two CTL Year 1 students from Kailua on a mission to serve kupuna in their Waimānalo community. Inspired by their grandmothers, they’ve been mowing lawns, cleaning homes, and doing whatever they can to support kupuna who need an extra hand.

We’re so proud of these young leaders for showing what it means to lead with aloha and serve their community with heart. Great job, Alan & Jonah!
