The Head Start program has helped thousands of impoverished keiki get an edge to not only thrive in school, but have a fighting chance to get out of poverty. Now the federal government is expected to change the rules to increase local control, but some fear the overhaul would replace federal mandates put into place to protect children.

HCAN's Mai Hall provides insight to on how valuable the Head Start program is to keiki, and raises urgent concern of potential federal defunding.
