This restoration project on the edge of Chinatown shows what thoughtful preservation can achieve when an owner and architect work in sync.

Their shared focus on quality design helped revive the older structure to its original street‑front proportions, allowing it to blend seamlessly back into its historic block. The bank later became known as First Interstate Bank of Hawai‘i before its acquisition by First Hawaiian Bank in 1991.
